The Indiana Fever is in the midst of a roster overhaul ahead of the 2025 season, and fans are eagerly awaiting more changes to put together a championship team around superstar Caitlin Clark. After Katie Lou Samuelson’s recent exit, the Fever faithful are back in top gear pining to add another prospective roster move involving a teammate of Clark, Kristy Wallace.

The Fever are shaking things up for the 2025 season and 29-year-old guard Kristy Wallace is in the middle of all the speculation. Entering the final year of her rookie contract, she’s making $80,823. The salary isn’t exactly bank-breaking, but fans are calling for her to leave so the cap room freed up can be filled with fresh talent. But moving Wallace is not as easy as it seems.
Indiana Fever’s front office does not have unlimited options. One fan summed up the situation: “Fever fam, y’all are going to have to get real comfortable with the idea that Kristy Wallace is here to stay. At least this season…Wallace is on the final year of a cheap rookie contract. We can’t really buy her out, and her trade stock probably isn’t high enough. So, she here.” Sure, her contract is affordable, but she’s not an easy trade piece. It isn’t simple to find a taker or to justify a buyout.

Also, Wallace’s trade value isn’t exactly on the rise. She had 4.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in around 17 minutes last season. Not terrible by any means but certainly not numbers that are having other teams scrambling to trade.
Now, with DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard in the mix, Wallace is becoming increasingly out of place for the Fever. And the Fever community has been anything but quiet about what they want next.

With Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston leading the roster Fever fans are eager for a change
Wallace’s name is being thrown around in fan discussions and the message is loud and clear. “Kristy wallace your time is up soon, your devil magic is about to run out and you will be off my team” one fan declared. Some are already saying their goodbyes, with one commenting, “Thank you, Kristy Wallace. Just preparing myself!”

One other fan went a step further, writing, “In jesus name this is kristy wallace’s last day on the fever”. And it didn’t stop here. Some fans are putting together their own deals, suggesting, “So trade Kristy Wallace, Dantas, and a 2026 first round pick for Marina Mabrey.” Others are keeping it simple: “Trade Kristy Wallace for Kate Martin already.”
The Fever are in full rebuild mode with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston as the core for the future. Where every roster decision matters. The reality, however, is much more of a complicated thing. Wallace, between salary cap management and team chemistry, could hang around longer than others would like.

Wallace is entering a make-or-break season in 2025. If she wants to stay, she’ll need to prove she’s valuable on the court. If not, maybe her trade stock rises enough to make a move possible. For all of Fever fans, until then, their championship dreams will have to balance with the realities of WNBA roster management.
