“It’s the playoffs, and so, can’t be afraid to take the shot,” said Skylar Diggins when asked about the clutch shot during Game 2 that sealed the win for the Seattle Storm. After A’ja Wilson and Co. won Game 1 by a 102-77 score, aka a 25-point margin, they were the favourites going into Game 2. However, despite being down 14 points in the 3rd quarter, Skylar Diggins and Nneka Ogwumike led the scoring and helped the Seattle Storm win by a close 86-83 score. This back-and-forth is only set to make Game 3 a more worthwhile watch.

To ensure that the Storm go into Game 3 with an edge, they will need all of their players available and in their best condition. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case.

‘High Post Hoops’ had earlier reported that the Seattle Storm might consider making an intriguing lineup change after Game 2 against the Las Vegas Aces. This speculation was brought up after the performance of 19-year-old Dominique Malonga. She entered the matchup with 6:04 left in the 4th quarter, and scored 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. On top of that, she kept A’ja Wilson at bay, which caused her to go scoreless in the 4th quarter!

Prediction: Can the Seattle Storm win again?

Seattle was beaten by 25 points in Game 1, and was trailing by 14 by the 3rd quarter in Game 2 before they pulled off their close 86-83 win. From an overall record, the Storm seems to be at a disadvantage. Furthermore, going into Game 3, the Storm also won’t have home-court advantage.

For Skylar Diggins and co, the key would be to figure out how the Storm could limit the Aces’ offense, especially from the 3-point distance. While Seattle allowed Las Vegas to shoot 48.3% from deep in Game 1, that number dropped to 36.8% in Game 2. Therefore, unless the Aces drastically improve upon their 3-point shooting, the Storm will reign supreme on defense.

Meanwhile, the Aces need another offensive star if the Storm double or triple-teams A’ja Wilson. Other than that, the Aces hold an advantage if they can limit unforced errors and regain their usual big-game poise.
