Indiana Fever’s offense has carried them often, but Game 2 vs the Aces showed just how critical defense can be. Guard Lexie Hull reinforced that point days earlier, noting, “Playing solid defense is what it’s going to come down to. We have to stay disciplined and focused on limiting their opportunities.” Now, after back-to-back losses and Indiana’s fate clinging to a thread, her belief in defense has only become rock-solid.

Lexie Hull, the Indiana Fever’s shooting guard/small forward, addressed the media following the Game 3 loss. During the presser, a reporter pointed out that she had drawn the most offensive fouls in the playoffs. When asked about the key to pulling that off, Hull replied, “I’m just trying to defend as hard as I can. There’s only certain screens you’re allowed to set. So, just trying to trail them, and that’s, I mean, that’s all I can really say”.
Lexie Hull has the most personal fouls, aka 21, in the 2025 WNBA playoffs. However, she has made up for it by drawing 37 offensive fouls. And she kept this stat maintained. After all, back in June, the Fever star was leading the WNBA in both 3P% (57%) AND offensive fouls drawn (12).

Even during Game 3, she recorded 2 of Indiana’s 11 offensive rebounds in the first half. As reporter Andy Backstrom highlighted, “She was everywhere, adding to her drawn offensive fouls total and hitting a pair of triples to beat the shot clock as the Fever — down by as many as 10 points in the opening half — hung around in a packed Gainbridge Fieldhouse.”

Lexie Hull’s recent remarks can make even a star like A’ja Wilson nervous. After all, during Game 3, Wilson had recorded 4 fouls. With the Fever defense concentrated on her, the 2025 WNBA MVP was limited to just 13 points through 6-20 (30.0%) field goals, 1-2 (50.0%) 3-pointers, and 0-1 (0.0%) free throws. Game 3 marked the 2nd matchup of the Semi-Finals series in which Wilson was limited to below 20 points.

After Game 1, Courtside Club’s Rachel A. DeMita discussed the Aces’ loss and highlighted that the Indiana Fever beat the Aces by 16 points because “they held A’ja to under 20 points. If you hold A’ja to under 20 points in any game, the Aces aren’t winning”. Game 3 proved to be an exception.
However, given Lexie Hull’s determination on defense, perhaps the Fever can pull off another win by focusing more on blocking the Aces’ scoring. A’ja Wilson would have been saved from worry if Lexie Hull had continued dealing with her injury woes. However, the Aces star has even lost that edge.
Lexie Hull Gets the All-Clear for Game 4
According to the Indiana Fever Injury Report, as highlighted by ESPN, Lexie Hull’s name is no longer listed! This means that the player is completely rid of her back issues. It means she will have better strength going into Game 4.
Hull was a late addition to Tuesday’s injury report for Game 2 of the Fever-Aces Semi-Finals series. This was because, over the course of Game 1, her back found it difficult to handle the strain. As Fever head coach Stephanie White explained, “She took a lot of hits. She took four or five pretty solid hits in the ballgame. So just continue to get re-aggravated, and overnight, was not kind to her”.
While she was stiff when warming up, Hull did end up playing 29 minutes during Game 2, and scored 15 points on 5 3-pointers in the 90-68 Fever loss.

After Tuesday’s game, the 26-year-old gave an update on her condition by stating, “I’m feeling sore still, but I think just a lot of treatment, trying to get your bodies as ready as we can be. Part of playoffs, I think, for everyone, it’s the end of the season, everyone’s a little fatigued, everyone’s a little sore, so just trying to go out there and do the best I can. I had a lot of treatment with our trainers. I’m really thankful for them for spending a lot of time with me today, a lot of time with me yesterday, getting me ready for tonight.”
