Caitlin Clark is continuing to break records and create new milestones. The 22-year-old was the number 1 pick in the WNBA draft in 2024 and had 2.45 million viewers. According to reports Nike has offered an 8-figure contract to the former Iowa Hawkeyes guard. The interesting detail about the offer is that Clark will be getting her signature shoe, and thus becoming the 3rd overall active player in the WNBA with such an offer. Currently, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu and the 4x WNBA champion Breanna Stewart have their signature shoes.

The contract follows up on Clark’s NIL deal with Nike that ended after the completion of the NCAA tournament. Since then fans and veterans have voiced their opinions on how the athleisure mogul is overlooking certain players. The players that fans feel are being disrespected are The Las Vegas Aces teammates A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum. When The Sporting News took to X to report the news about Clark’s offer, fans were vocal about the inclusion of the Aces superstars.

It seems like the department store corporation has heard fans complain and portrayed how marketable A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum are. Both of them seemed natural to fans and even convinced them to start playing pickleball. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to leave certain jabs in favor of the WNBA duo’s marketability.

Dynamic Duo wins fans’ heart

Look how marketable !!! We want more 😍.” One fan was clearly impressed by their chemistry and did not doubt that Wilson and Plum could do more such advertisements. Wilson is currently arguably the biggest WNBA star. As per ESPN WNBA Stat Leaders 2023, she had the third-highest points per game (22.8) in the league, second-highest rebounds per game (9.5), and highest blocks per game.

I thought somebody said A’ja wasn’t marketable? Call me crazy but she Looks pretty marketable to me.” Mocking at people who think Wilson isn’t marketable after all she has achieved so much on the court.

One fan coined a new nickname for Wilson. “A’ja “Marketable” Wilson.”

Last year’s WNBA title game is also not forgotten by any. Such support continued as one fan was sure the MVP of last year’s final was multihyphenate.”This is just the beginning. @aja22wilson about to start popping up in your favorite tv shows. The talent, the charisma, the looks = multihyphenate 🌟+

Amids all the love for Wilson, one fan was quick to point out how remarkable Plum has been in the commercials.”@kelseyplum10 is awesome. I ❤️ all her commercials lately.

Plum has signed with Under Armour with the Curry Brand, but there are no signs of her signature shoes. Interestingly before accepting Nike’s offer, Caitlin Clark had offers from Under Armour and Adidas. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry couldn’t join the meeting physically but spoke to Clark via Facetime.

After receiving fan backlash, will the athleisure moguls offer signature shoes to A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum, ahead of what is expected to be the most-watched WNBA season?
