“I learned a lot um we learned a lot of plays and I learned a lot about loving WNBA first I came here I didn’t know what to expect how it was going to be everybody always thought me like oh it’s going to be like a job everybody is competing but this girls actually show me so much love they helped me a lot like learning the play and just like being able to get through drills and stuff like that so it’s amazing,” stated Cardoso.

As mentioned Cardoso was the overall number three pick whereas Reese was picked by the Sky at number seven. Both were considered rivals during their time at the NCAA since Reese represented the Lousiana State University Lady Tigers. On the other hand, Cardoso was a player at the South Carolina Gamecocks. Notably, the Gamecocks stopped the Lady Tigers in their tracks twice- once during the regular season and at another time during the SEC tournament.
Now that the two stars have been drafted by the same team, it will be interesting to see if they continue their rivalry by battling for the same spot in the team, or play together as colleagues. While Reese is famous for her double-doubles, Cardoso is no less in rebounds. Hence, its fans will be keen to see the defensive wall built by the Sky this season. On another note, Cardoso also spoke about the teammates that helped her.

Cardoso noted that “Diamond, Brianna everybody’s been helping me.” For the record, Cardoso is now teammates with Diamond DeShields and Brianna Turner. DeShields had won the WNBA Championship with Sky in 2021, Turner has been newly acquired by Chicago but has been with the Phoenix Mercury since 2019. Fans would be excited to know that her teammates are guiding her.
Perhaps it is this love and support that athletes need to blossom in their careers. And hopefully, fans would see both Cardoso and Reese giving their best donning the same jersey.
