Obscene objects being thrown onto the court disrupted at least six different games during the 2025 WNBA season. Several arrests were made at the time. The bizarre incident has now been repeated this season, with another obscene object thrown onto the court during the Atlanta Dream–Los Angeles Sparks game on Thursday.

Sports news page LoJo Media on X shared a video of the accused individual trying to escape while the arena security tried to stop him. The brief clip was posted on social media with the caption, “This guy just threw a s– t– on the court during the Sparks vs. Dream game.”

The incident happened late in the third quarter. As Sparks guard Jihyun Park was preparing to shoot free throws, a spectator hurled the bright green object onto the court, causing officials to pause the game. Fortunately, Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese immediately spotted the fan from the bench and pointed him out to arena security. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Sparks center Cameron Brink then kicked the item off the floor before staff members covered it up and removed it.

The first incident of this kind happened during an Atlanta Dream–Golden State Valkyries game. An insider source confirmed to The Athletic that the perpetrator had been arrested and banned for a year. However, he could also face charges.

Of the multiple arrests that were made last year, one 23-year-old from Marietta, Georgia, named Delbert Carver faced multiple charges including disorderly conduct, public indecency/indecent exposure, and criminal trespass, as per ESPN.

Following the arrest on August 1, 2025, the WNBA also formally announced its own punishments for those found replicating such acts during games.

“The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans.”

“In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.”

When these incidents happened last season, ESPN reported that the stunts were linked to cryptocurrency groups behind a meme coin, with the group allegedly orchestrating the initial wave of incidents to generate viral publicity for its token launch. However, it remains unclear if the same group is associated with the latest incident.

Hopefully, the arrest of this perpetrator will send a clear message that these incidents are no longer harmless attempts at going viral. However, whether the authorities will press further charges against the individual, as they did in the case of Carver, remains to be seen.
