It was Migna Toure who guided the Golden State Valkyries to their first win as a new franchise. They had filled the stadium in their first game but failed to get their first win. And it was looking like the same script in their second game, but Toure said, “Not today,” as she led the comeback with 19 points coming off the bench. Despite that performance, Toure couldn’t make it to the final roster for the Valkyries, making her waivers another surprising one from the side.

However, everyone has their own path to the top, and Toure has found another way back in the W. The French hooper has now signed with the Connecticut Sun. Let’s look at both of her contracts in depth as she tries to claw her way back to the WNBA.

What were the terms of Migna Touré’s contract with the Golden State Valkyries?

Migna Toure had signed a training camp contract for the 2025 season. Had she been retained, that would have converted into a 1-year deal worth $66,079 for the 2025 WNBA season. The contract included no signing bonus and had a cap hit equal to her base salary. Since she was waived, Toure only received a per-day stipend, which was not disclosed. Her waiver also meant that her salary was not counted towards the cap hit.

What happened to her Valkyries contract before the 2025 season started?

Touré signed a training camp contract and appeared in two preseason games. However, as the franchise trimmed down to 12 players, she was waived by the Valkyries before the regular season began. Head Coach Natalie Nakase described her rookie guard as “fearless.” But there were only limited spots on the roster, and Nakase had to act accordingly.

What is her current contract status with the Connecticut Sun?

On July 21, 2025, the struggling Connecticut Sun signed Touré to a seven-day contract. The terms were not publicly disclosed, as per team policy. Such contracts generally pay a pro-rated minimum salary for the week and rarely include additional bonuses.

Fresh off a standout performance at the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket, where she teamed up with Sun rookie Leïla Lacan for the French national squad, Migna Touré joins Connecticut with momentum on her side. The dynamic 6-foot shooting guard averaged an impressive 9.7 points and 2.8 assists across six games, showcasing her scoring touch and confident playmaking against Europe’s best.

Lacan has been a rare bright spot for the Sun, averaging 9.8 points and 2.0 assists. While it’s only a 7-day contract for Toure, it’s a chance to prove herself. It can easily convert into a longer deal like Aari McDonald, who was initially on an emergency hardship contract but signed with the Fever for the full season later on.
