It’s Minnesota Lynx vs. Dallas Wings tonight, or as some might dub it, The Bookends Battle. On one side, you’ve got the top-seeded Lynx, guided by Cheryl Reeve who is a four-time WNBA Coach of the Year (2011, 2016, 2020, 2024). On the other, the bottom-dwelling Wings, just trying to stay afloat under first-year head coach Chris Koclanes.

Dallas limps in with an injury list longer than their win streak, while Minnesota has enjoyed rare health all season. Yet there’s a common thread: both squads have Huskies in charge – Napheesa Collier and Paige Bueckers. The twist is that only one of them might suit up tonight, as the other sits on the “probable” line. So, let’s dive into how this one might unfold…

Injury Report

Minnesota Lynx

As opposed to the Wings, the Lynx enter tonight fully healthy, as they have been for much of the year. This leaves their HC Cheryl Reeve free to shape her rotations as she sees fit.

How the Minnesota Lynx vs Dallas Wings Go Down…

The Dallas Wings will come into this game really banged up and trying to figure out how to stop their slide. On a seven-game losing streak, their roster has been decimated by injuries: JJ Quinerly is out for the season, and both Luisa Geiselsöder and Haley Jones are sidelined. The availability of Azaijah James and Paige Bueckers won’t be decided until game time.

When Paige Bueckers is on the court, she’s carrying a huge burden. Sure, she leads the team and is averaging 18.9 points per game, but the entire Wings’ offense has been struggling. They are averaging only 81.7 points while giving up nearly 88 per game. Moreover, their last five games, all losses by sizable margins, including a 100–78 defeat to Atlanta and a 101–95 game against Connecticut, show just how tough things have been.

On the other side, the Minnesota Lynx look nothing like a team dealing with any serious issues. With a record of 31-8, Cheryl Reeve’s team has powered through the season. They are driven by Napheesa Collier’s MVP-caliber production of 23.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, plus her constant impact on both ends of the floor. Their backcourt is also consistently strong with Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams, and Alanna Smith solidifies the interior defense.

The Lynx have controlled games on offense and defense by holding their opponents to just 76.8 points per game while the team itself shoots nearly 47% from the field. Their recent dominant 94–70 win over Connecticut only highlighted that they are fully prepared for the postseason!

So, given the disparity in health, depth, and form, ESPN Analytics paints the picture clearly: Minnesota 84.6%, Dallas 15.4%. Unless Paige Bueckers plays and delivers something spectacular, the Lynx should complete the season sweep.
