The star rookie takes on the consensus GOAT. Many would believe this is the apt description of the upcoming Indiana-Phoenix fixture featuring Caitlin Clark and Diana Taurasi. But before the three-point specialists can lock horns against one another, the mood of both camps can give the fans a fair idea as to who is entering the contest more confidently. Well, from the latest comments of head coach Nate Tibbetts, it appears that the hosts have already figured out their game plan to tackle the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer.

Diana Taurasi and Co. registered an impressive 7th victory on their home turf on Friday against the LA Sparks. After having his money’s worth, a delighted Tibbetts interacted with the media and addressed their queries. Soon after, he was asked about his thoughts on facing Caitlin Clark. To which he responded, “I’m guessing it’s going to be awesome, just like it was tonight. Really a great thing for our organization and our league. We’re looking forward to it.”

This will be the first time this season that both these franchises will go against each other. While the Fever is currently on a 2-game losing streak and is 3-8 in road games, the hosts are 7-2 at home. However, this also marks the first occasion when Diana Taurasi faces off against the first overall WNBA draft pick Caitlin Clark. Previously, the 42-year-old has shot multiple jibes at the rookie. The comments range from undermining her talent by terming her a superhuman only at the college level to calling out her fans as sensitive.

While both these athletes have a lot to offer, fans would be eager to take an interest in one aspect of their games.
