On Friday night, Caitlin Clark reminded the basketball world why she is considered one of the best players in the league. The Indiana Fever star erupted for a historic performance against the Seattle Storm by becoming the first player in WNBA history to record a 40-point, 10-assist game as she led her team to a 110-107 win. But seeing the Fever star start slow against the New York Liberty, sports personality Skip Bayless believes she hasn’t quite found her rhythm yet.

“Coming off her huge game last night, Caitlin Clark needs to re-find her rhythm and 2nd wind if the Fever are going to beat the Liberty in Indy. Down 4 at half. CC: 1-7, 0-4 from 3,” Bayless wrote on X.
Even though Caitlin Clark dropped 45 points against the Storm, her rhythm is still not there yet, and that was evident when the Fever and the New York Liberty locked horns on Saturday.

Although Indiana ended up handing New York their 12th loss of the season with a dominant 108-88 win, thanks to Kelsey Mitchell’s game-high 33 points, Clark shot just 1-for-7 from the field by halftime and missed all four of her three-point attempts. She only had five points by that point. And that is exactly what has been the biggest issue with her season so far.
Some nights, she dominates the scoreboard, and then in the very next game, she scores as few as six points. But even after being limited till the half time against Breanna Stewart and Co., she bounced back to finish the night with 17 points and seven assists in just 26 minutes.
Yet, the only thing Caitlin Clark has been consistent with so far has been her turnovers. Against Liberty, she had seven TOs. Through her 22 games so far, she is averaging 4.6 turnovers per game to lead the WNBA.
There is no doubt that Caitlin Clark is one of the best players in the W, but over two months into the season, she is still yet to find her footing. Her nagging back injury has undoubtedly played a major role in that, but if the Indiana Fever want to be genuine championship contenders, their star guard needs to do what everyone expects of her.
The Fever’s win over New York showed that Indiana can beat the league’s best even without another historic performance from Clark. But if the Fever want to make a deep playoff run, they’ll need the version of Caitlin Clark that took over against Seattle to show up much more consistently.
