“The New York Liberty today announced a new partnership with Swiss watchmaker Tissot, naming the brand the Official Watch of the New York Liberty ahead of the 2026 WNBA season. Marking an historic milestone for the global timepiece leader, this collaboration represents Tissot’s first-ever partnership with a women’s professional sports team and will come to life through custom content and in-game features,” the statement read.

“As part of the partnership, Tissot has outfitted the New York Liberty’s 2026 coaching staff, led by four-time NBA Champion Chris DeMarco, with game-day timepieces selected during a preseason visit to Tissot’s flagship store,” shared Myles Ehrlich on his X handle about this association.

This would make Tissot the new and official watch of the New York Liberty ahead of the 2026 WNBA season. Now this partnership is special as this is Tissot’s first-ever partnership with a women’s professional sports team and will come to life through custom content and in-game features. Recently, to consummate the deal even further, Tissot outfitted the New York Liberty’s 2026 coaching staff, led by four-time NBA Champion Chris DeMarco, with game-day timepieces selected during a preseason visit to Tissot’s flagship store.

But this is not all. Tissot is also taking things a step further to make the WNBA look even better with a more engaging fan experience, and that will be through the new shot clock that you will witness across all WNBA courts from this season onwards. This would be a top-tier feature that we are used to seeing in the NBA, coupled with a fully redesigned look tailor-made for those who want to be on time regarding the game and its operations.

So things seem to be moving in the right direction for New York, and now with Satou Sabally joining the ranks, things get even more interesting.

Sabally Joining Liberty Reunites Her With Former Oregon Teammate

It’s a variation on the common phrase, ‘If you can’t beat them, join them.’ In Satou Sabally’s case, it was bringing them over. Last year, it was at the hands of Sabally and her Phoenix Mercury team that New York had to bid its exit in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Satou was the highest scorer in two of the games, scoring 15 and 23 points respectively, as the Mercury dispatched New York’s challenge.

Liberty, as a result, didn’t take any chances then and swooped her away when the moment presented itself, or did they have other plans? Sabally has great chemistry with Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu, as the duo played together for the Oregon Ducks. It was their joint efforts that pushed Oregon to the 2019 Final Four as a member of the Pac-12 Conference. And now they will again get an opportunity to redefine that partnership.

Sabally now is the definition of a hot streak, averaging 16.3 points on a shooting split of 41.4 field goal percentage, 33.1 three-point percentage, and 84.2 free throw percentage. Furthermore, she also added 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game on her way to her third WNBA All-Star appearance in 2025 after getting the honor in 2021 and 2023 previously.

Ionescu, too, isn’t slacking, and her 18.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game bear testament to that. Add to that the experience and stability that Breanna Stewart provides, and you have the entire recipe for Championship success at the New York Liberty.
