On paper, the 18-10 Liberty and the 8-21 Wings seem like they play different leagues. But dig a little deeper, and there’s some symmetry in the New York Liberty vs Dallas Wings. Statistically speaking, both teams run through elite guards. Bueckers (18.5 PPG, 5.5 AST) and Sabrina Ionescu (20.4 PPG, 5.6 AST) are floor generals with flair, shooting range, and face-of-the-franchise energy.

Then there’s the tease of the NY-DAL regular season series opener. There, the Wings jumped to a 20-4 lead in under 6 minutes. It looked like a Broadway blowout, but the Liberty couldn’t flip the script. They, Bueckers & Co., took the win 92-82. Maybe it was fate, maybe it was Azzi Fudd in the stands rocking an “I ♥ PB” tee. Whatever the spark, Dallas flipped the narrative once.

Tonight, they meet again, and this rematch might just be closer than it looks…

How the New York Liberty vs Dallas Wings Might Go Down…

Don’t be deceived by Dallas’ 8-21 record. They’ve already taken down New York once this season. But the Liberty transform into a completely different animal at home, especially with Sabrina Ionescu fresh off dropping 36 points in what looked like a video game performance.

This clash basically features two teams heading in opposite directions: a red-hot Liberty squad sitting at 18-10 (second-best in the league) versus a struggling Dallas team that’s lost eight of its last ten games. The Wings are scoring a respectable 82.1 points per game, but their league-worst defense surrenders 86.6 points nightly.

Now they’re walking into Barclays Center, where Ionescu, Natasha Cloud and Emma Meesseman have been putting on a show all season. To their credit, Dallas still boasts Paige Bueckers (18.5 PPG, 5.5 AST) and Arike Ogunbowale’s explosive scoring ability. But their poor 3-12 road record combined with New York’s improving defense (81.1 points allowed) creates serious concerns.

New York also leads the WNBA in assists per game while shooting over 45% from the field. They are the definition of efficient offense. With their stacked starting lineup and extra motivation from that 92-82 loss to Dallas earlier? It’s hard to imagine this going any other way. ESPN Analytics gives New York an 80.5% chance to win. That number might actually be kind… to Dallas.
