Louisiana State University Tigers football captain Greg Brooks Jr. made it to the headlines on Wednesday after he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare form of cancer. The news was reshared by LSU Tiger?s power forward Angel Reese. For the unversed, Greg Brooks is a football player for the LSU Tigers who previously plied his trade for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Brooks made his appearance felt in the first two seasons after which he experienced dizziness from vertigo.

The tweet from LSU?s handle reads, ?The Brooks family, LSU Athletics, and Our Lady of the Lake Health announced today that Greg Brooks Jr. has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, medulloblastoma.?

Brooks had undergone surgery on September 15 to remove the tumor between his cerebellum and brain stem. To corroborate the medical team?s efforts, LSU has also established a Greg Brooks Jr. Victory Fund that aims at providing the best treatment possible for Brooks with contributions from fans and family alike.

According to?Cleveland Clinic., Medulloblastoma affects 350-500 people every year and needs intensive treatment by surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. “The surgery was successful in removing the tumor, and there is no evidence that the cancer has spread,” Catherine O?Neal, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Our Lady of the Lake Health said Wednesday as per People.?
