During the first pre-season game, the Indiana Fever were posed with a daunting question: can they win without Caitlin Clark? After all, the Iowa alum completely changed the team’s trajectory over the last year. And even though the game went close, Stephanie White and her squad proved that they’re winners through and through, despite their star player’s absence.
However, no one can deny the impact that CC has on the Fever. With her prolific play-making, competitive spirit, and knock-down shooting, it’s no secret that Clark makes Indiana much better. When she caught rhythm in the latter half of the previous season, the Fever statistically went toe-to-toe with some of the best teams ever in the WNBA!
This is exactly why, when local reporter Chloe Peterson revealed that the fever superstar wasn’t 100% yet, there was a sigh from the Indiana camp. Peterson, in her tweet, revealed that Caitlin Clark was dealing with tightness in her left quadriceps muscle. And even though there were no signs, it could be anything serious. The Fever isn’t taking any risks for the upcoming season!

Caitlin Clark’s left leg injury is in her quad, she told IndyStar and The Athletic pregame on Saturday.

The truth is, it would be unwise for the Indiana Fever camp to rush Caitlin Clark into playing too soon. “There’s no need to overdo anything right now at the beginning of the season,” she said before the clash against the Dream. Considering that basketball is a high-intensity contact sport, the odds of an injury worsening are quite high if not dealt with properly.
Nevertheless, it seems like it is nothing serious, as Caitlin Clark is not even present on the Indiana Fever’s injury report for today’s game against the Dream. The six-foot-tall point guard stole the show against Brazil even in limited playing time, scoring sixteen points in sixteen minutes with an outrageous logo three!
We talk about how big of an impact she has had on the Indiana Fever, but what can we expect from CC in her sophomore year? The Indiana Fever star had her own answers to this question. What exactly did she say? Let’s find out!

Caitlin Clark highlights major change for the Indiana Fever this year
There’s no hiding the fact that even with Caitlin Clark’s help, Indiana didn’t live up to its potential last year. A second-round exit definitely did not justify the young core that they had in Mitchell, Boston, and of course, Clark, but what could anyone do? It was like watching a car crash in slow motion, and no one could understand why the breaks failed.

Truth be told, their biggest advantage was also their biggest weakness. Having a young team is amazing because they are more energetic, explosive, and modern in their way of thinking. However, choosing a young team rids the organization of championship experience.

And that is exactly what Caitlin Clark pointed out while talking to Colin Salao. “The main thing we were lacking last year was experience.” The WNBA superstar said. “Adding really great vets like [Bonner] and Syd [Colson] and Tash [Howard] and putting that experience around us of not just being in this league but also winning. They have the championship pedigree.”

And about the locker room environment, Clark had nothing but praise for her teammates. She commended everyone on the Fever for acting selflessly, and emphasized that you couldn’t compare last year’s team to this squad.
There’s no doubt that this year’s Indiana Fever team is a fun watch! Their offense is dynamic and fast-paced, and who wouldn’t want to see Caitlin Clark in action? However, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. As we get closer and closer to the season, everyone’s cards will begin to show.
