Olivia Miles has been the single most impressive rookie this season. After spending much of her rookie season upping expectations, on Saturday night in Chicago, she broke yet another record, this time surpassing Angel Reese for a rookie All-Star record. Miles made history as the sole rookie selected as a starter for the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, becoming just the 11th rookie in league history to earn an All-Star starting nod. Unsurprisingly, she brought her best to the occasion. The Minnesota Lynx guard delivered an all-around effort, finishing the game with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists, setting the record for most rebounds by a rookie in the All-Star Game.

The previous record belonged to then-Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, who logged 11 boards during her own All-Star debut. What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that Reese is a forward, and one of the best rebounders in the league, consistently ranking among the top players in that category.

Just this season, she has logged 288 total rebounds, ranking second only to Jessica Shepard, while also leading the league in offensive rebounds with 126, over 30 more than the runner-up, Natasha Howard.

Compare that to Miles, who is six inches shorter and plays the point guard position, and is averaging just 4.7 rebounds per game. However, throughout her rookie season, she has shown the ability to step up, consistently impacting games with her scoring, playmaking, and, at times, even her rebounding. The All-Star nod underscores Miles’ impact on Minnesota’s 22-6 record and her emergence as an MVP candidate alongside her Rookie of the Year trajectory.

Apart from the rebounding record, Miles also reached a milestone as the first player in league history to finish with a perfect shooting game with a minimum of five attempts, going 5/5 from the field and knocking down a three as well.

Miles also barely missed a triple-double by two assists, which would’ve made her the second player to record a triple-double in an All-Star Game after Skylar Diggins, who accomplished the feat last season. Regardless, this is just the latest showing from Miles, who has been lighting up box scores the entire season.

Another Rookie Record Adds to Olivia Miles’ Remarkable First Season

Breaking Angel Reese’s All-Star rebounding record is only the latest milestone in Olivia Miles’ first year as a professional, one that is quickly becoming one of the most remarkable the WNBA has ever seen.

Miles came to Chicago as the only rookie selected to start the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, already breaking records. Just days before the All-Star break, the Lynx guard became the fastest player in league history to reach 500 points and 150 assists in just 26 games, breaking the previous records set by Paige Bueckers (28 games) and Caitlin Clark (29 games).

Earlier this month, she also became the fastest player to reach 350 points and 100 assists in just 19 games, once again beating Bueckers’ and Clark’s records of 20 and 22 games, respectively. Apart from that, she leads all rookies in points and assists per game at 19.3 and 5.9. Besides being named Rookie of the Month for May and June, she has become the clear favorite for Rookie of the Year, along with a dark-horse MVP candidate, given Minnesota sits at the top of the league.

Adding the All-Star rebounds record only adds to that growing resume. Olivia Miles isn’t just putting together a stellar rookie campaign, but one of the most historic first seasons the league has ever seen.
