A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo could soon be moving to the same area professionally. Surprising, right? According to reporter Brett Siegel, Golden State has emerged as a potential destination for the sports power couple, a move that could allow them to stay closer together.

“Adebayo is a player the Warriors have been interested in over the last year, as we’ve reported at ClutchPoints, and he still holds a strong relationship with Butler…A’ja Wilson, a four-time WNBA MVP, will be a key free agent target for Lacob and the Valkyries, sources said. Why would this matter for the Warriors? Well, Wilson and Adebayo have been together for years. These two becoming the faces of both Golden State franchises is certainly something to monitor,” said Siegel.

It comes as no surprise to anyone following the Golden State Warriors this season that the front office has been searching for another star to pair alongside Stephen Curry. With Curry entering the later stages of his career, the goal is clear: maximize his remaining prime years and make one more serious push for a championship.

Much of the offseason chatter revolved around a potential pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo, but those ambitions never materialized. Instead, Golden State pivoted and ended up taking on the expiring contract of Kristaps Porzingis, a move that ultimately lacked the blockbuster impact many had expected.

The mood around the Bay Area is far from optimistic at the moment. Despite the bench sparking fourth-quarter comebacks against the Phoenix Suns and the Memphis Grizzlies since the trade deadline, there remains a lingering sense that this group lacks the firepower to truly contend.

That said, this latest development could provide a genuine reason for fans to feel hopeful heading into the upcoming offseason.

Bam potentially heading to the Golden State Warriors this offseason is one thing. But why would A’ja Wilson move?

Yes, the opportunity to stay in the same city as the person she loves is a compelling reason. But Wilson has spent her entire career with the Las Vegas Aces. She is the face of the franchise, a champion, and the cornerstone of everything they have built. From a basketball standpoint, a move away from Las Vegas simply does not seem logical.

That has been the widespread belief across the WNBA community ever since Brett Siegel introduced the scenario. Social media quickly lit up with strong reactions, many dismissing the idea outright. Here’s a glimpse at what fans have been saying.

A’ja Wilson to the Valkyries?

“Lmfao B’am can do what he wants but bffr, A’ja isn’t going anywhere. she will retire an Ace,” one fan wrote. Another chimed in, saying, “Not to mention just outright baloney in the name of clicks, like a move to GS (respectfully).”

As expected, that has been the overwhelming reaction from fans. When you look at what A’ja Wilson has already accomplished with the Las Vegas Aces, it is easy to understand why they are reacting this way.

She is a three-time champion, a four-time MVP, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and a two-time Finals MVP. To top it all off, last season she became the first player in WNBA history to win MVP, Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, the scoring title, and a championship all in the same year.

When a player has quite literally helped build a franchise from the ground up, why would she leave, unless there is some internal dispute that the public simply does not know about? From the outside, there has been no indication of that.

Sure, the Golden State Valkyries would be interested in targeting A’ja Wilson. Who wouldn’t? With more than 80 percent of the league’s players set to hit free agency, Golden State will once again be aggressive in its pursuit of a marquee name. After missing out on the likes of Kelsey Plum, Courtney Vandersloot and Brionna Jones last season, the Valkyries are expected to stay active in the market. But will that even be possible?

As one fan put it, “A’ja has no reason to leave Vegas. Joe isn’t getting A’ja just like he isn’t getting Giannis.”

The skepticism is understandable. The Golden State Valkyries, much like the Golden State Warriors, have not had much success landing marquee free agents. We all saw how the pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo ultimately failed to materialize for the men’s team, which has faced repeated roadblocks in its efforts to provide Stephen Curry with the necessary support for another title run.

And securing A’ja Wilson would be an even tougher task, especially with multiple teams expected to monitor her situation closely. The more likely outcome is that she re-signs with the Las Vegas Aces on improved terms.

“If A’ja joins the Valks, the possibility of the Warriors landing Bam Adebayo rises. But why would A’ja leave the Aces when they just won the chip?” one fan questioned.

As we mentioned earlier, the chances of Bam Adebayo joining the Warriors could be considerably higher. Golden State has a clear need for a dominant presence in the paint. At the moment, they are relying on a 39-year-old Al Horford, with Draymond Green often shouldering minutes at center.

Yes, Kristaps Porzingis is now in the picture, but availability continues to be the concern. He has appeared in just 17 games this season due to injury issues, which raises legitimate questions about his reliability moving forward.

While Bam might be open to a move to the Bay Area to link up with Jimmy Butler, A’ja Wilson does not have the same pull to leave a city where she is quite literally worshipped.

Would she really risk walking away from that to start fresh with an expansion franchise still finding its footing and attempt to build it into a contender from scratch? That feels highly unlikely. Right now, there may be no better place in the league for Wilson than with the Las Vegas Aces.

And the chances are that Adebayo does not end up with the Golden State Warriors either. As one fan joked, “Are they sending us Curry??”

Pat Riley has a long-standing reputation as one of the league’s toughest negotiators. He has no incentive to move his franchise cornerstone without receiving significant value in return. Yes, Jimmy Butler was eventually let go, but that only came after he made it abundantly clear that he wanted out.

Unless Adebayo signals a similar stance, there is little reason for Miami to entertain offers, especially for anything short of a blockbuster return.

When Jimmy Butler arrived in Golden State, Andrew Wiggins went the other way. Any potential deal for Bam Adebayo would almost certainly require an even steeper price.

If Mike Dunleavy is serious about bringing Adebayo to the Golden State Warriors, it would likely take a combination of key rotation players and significant draft capital, possibly even unprotected picks, to convince Miami to engage. Whether Golden State is willing to go that far is something only the front office truly knows.
