The WNBA offseason is that rare stretch where players finally get to breathe again. After a brutal 44-game run, this is their moment to reset, heal up, and just be themselves for a bit. You start seeing your favorite stars popping up at different games across the country and trying out new sports. And this time, one of them is Paige Bueckers.

Paige will be playing in the Wellball VIP League Event in Dallas on 30th November. The announcement came straight from Wellball’s Instagram page, which wrote:

“We are honored to announce that Paige Bueckers, 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year and NCAA National Champion, will be participating in the Wellball VIP League event in Dallas.”

She now becomes the first WNBA player to step into the world of Wellball. And for anyone who’s hearing about it for the first time, Wellball is basically basketball’s own version of pickleball. There’s no dribbling, no defense, none of the physical elements you often associate with a basketball game. All that really matters in Wellball is how well you can shoot.

The Wellball VIP League held its inaugural event in New York City, with MyPrize serving as the title partner for the launch. Its second event will now take place in Dallas, where Paige will be part of the action. Her inclusion in the VIP League has already drawn big praise from Stephon Marbury, the former NBA star who’s closely involved with the project.

“After watching this young lady’s shooting clinic in her highlight reel, I knew WellBall had found the perfect fit. But she’s more than just a shooter—she can see the wind when she passes,” the two-time NBA All-Star wrote about Paige joining on Instagram.

“Driven by a deep, relentless will to win, this gem 💎 is destined to shine bright until the very end. It’s not just an honor, it’s a blessing to welcome you to @playwellball @paigebueckers ❤️Love is Love ❤️”

A competition built on pure shooting is about to welcome someone who hit 53.1% from the field in her rookie season. If that’s not a reason to tune in, what is? Yet even with numbers that strong, Paige has been honest about still learning a certain aspect of the game.

Paige Bueckers Opens Up About the Mental Side of the Game

Despite winning Rookie of the Year after averaging 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, Paige Bueckers says she’s still learning how to stay true to herself — and how to speak up without being afraid of any backlash, whether it’s on the court or in her personal life.

“It’s hard because the things that I mean I’ve changed my perspective from things happening to me to things happening for me,” Bueckers said. “And I’m proud of all the things that I’ve been through. And you don’t want to talk bad about other people because of situations that happened to you, but you realize how important it was to shaping who you are.”

Everyone adjusts to stardom at their own pace. With the expectations Paige carries, it’s natural for things to feel overwhelming at times. But seeing her try different sports and find new ways to connect with the Dallas community has been fun to watch. She’ll be back on the court soon in Unrivaled, but before that, Dallas fans will get a full shooting showcase on November 30. Mark your calendars!
