Arike Ogunbowale’s girlfriend had no idea what she was walking into. Back in 2024, Lala Ronay walked into her house and found it decorated with flowers as Ogunbowale greeted her at the door. “What is this … for me?” Ronay said, turning to a smiling Ogunbowale. “Oh my gosh! What? What is this?” She asked again as the song “When it Comes to You” by Fridayy played over the clip.

The couple walked on the red carpet and Ogunbowale got down on one knee and slipped a ring onto her finger with a massive sign of letters spelling out “Marry me” in the background. “4EVER💍🖤🌹,” the Dallas Wings player captioned the post. Almost 2 years after this proposal, Ogunbowale and Ronay have finally gotten married. “here’s to a lifetime of us 💍♾️ 02.24.26,” Ogunbowale and Ronay captioned their post announcing their marriage. Ogunbowale’s teammates and colleagues were quick to congratulate the star, including Paige Bueckers and Breanna Stewart. 

“Waittt so married in Miami???? omggggggg ♥️🫶🏻 congrats!!!!!!!!!” wrote Breanna Stewart. The couple took their time in announcing the marriage, as it seems they tied the knot while Ogunbowale was playing in Unrivaled. She played for title winners team Mist with Stewart leading them. They got married just before the finals on February 27. So, Ogunbowale had a little extra motivation to cap one of the most memorable moments of her life with a title. And she did. Another teammate was also pretty excited to hear the announcement of Ogunbowale’s marriage. 

“Lookkk at yalllll😍😍😍,” wrote the Dallas Wings star. “Congrats, my favs 🥹” As Ogunbowale’s partner, Ronay has been around the Wings and the Mist squad. It seems she has formed a relationship with Ogunbowale’s  colleagues as well. “I love yall 🤍🤍🤍” wrote New York Liberty star Isabelle Harrison. “🥹 Congrats!!!!!!!” Veronica Burton pitched in. “OMGGEEEE🥺🥺😩” wrote an excited Saniyah  Rivers. Even Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston wrote, “OMG CONGRATSSS 😍😍😍.”

She could have also helped them out with their fashion and hairstyle, as she is a digital content creator and beauty influencer. Ronay is known for curating unique outfits and styles and has created many fashion pieces that are custom-made. Moving from Arike Ogunbowale’s off-court future, it is very likely that she moves away from Dallas next season.

Arike Ogunbowale’s Future Likely Lies Away From Paige Bueckers 

Initially, it seemed Arike Ogunbowale and Paige Bueckers would be a dream pairing. However, the reality was much different. Ogunbowale had a career-low 2025 season, averaging just 15.5 points, more than 6 points less than the previous season. Rumours of Wings trading Ogunbowale stirred up in the middle of the season but according to Clutch points, they hadn’t “given up on her yet.”

Eventually, the team finished 10-34 and had already been moving towards a young future with the Di Jonai Carrington trade for Diamond Miller, Karlie Samuelson, and the Lynx’s 2027 second‑round pick. So, will they start fresh in 2026? It’s a possibility. Sabreena Merchant thinks that a change will work in favor of Ogunbowale as well. 

“Ogunbowale has never been the most efficient scorer, but she can get buckets,” she wrote in her top free agents article. “The 2026 Unrivaled season was a chance to see her excel when she wasn’t the focal point of an offense. Some new WNBA scenery should help Ogunbowale tap into her best skills.”

However, it remains to be seen how the new coach, Jose Fernandez, sees things after this new CBA. He wants to play “harder than anybody in the league.” In his introductory conference he was all for retaining the veteran. “You have someone like Arike that’s been an All-Star, right? Leading scorer in the Wings organization,” Fernandez said about Ogunbowale. “What’s left for Arike to do here with the Dallas Wings is win a championship.” 

However, Ogunbowale will very likely demand a supermax, in line with her past contract. Now that it’s $1.2 million out of the 7 (17.1%) as opposed to 16.1% in the earlier CBA. Fernandez will have to think twice about the team structure. Even their rookies Paige Bueckers, Aziaha James, JJ Quinnerly, and Diamond Miller will earn $500,000 each. They also have the top draft pick in the upcoming draft, where their plans will become more evident. 

It is very likely that Ogunbowale can head away from Wings and there will be no shortage of suitors. Teams, especially the two expansion franchises, want a proven anchor to develop. And Ogunbowale has plenty of better opportunities across the league.
