“We can’t go out and play the same way we did and expect a different result. We have to make the adjustments and play like our season is on the line, because it is,” said Sabrina Ionescu after New York Liberty’s Game 2 loss against the Phoenix Mercury. After winning Game 1 by a 79-69 score and possessing home-court advantage for the next matchup, one would be compelled to ask how bad things can go in Game 2. Well, not only did the Mercury win, they won by a 26-point margin, thereby creating history by making it the largest road win in WNBA playoff history. With the New York Liberty returning to the PHX Arena for Game 3, no mistakes can be made.

“I have a very hard time seeing the star trio of Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, and Jonquel Jones combining to make just eight of 28 attempts (28.5%) as they did in Game 2,” wrote Sportsbook Reviews’ Josh Goldberg. “I think getting this type of value on a team with as much star power as New York in an arena the Liberty have already conquered in this series is too tempting to pass up”. However, the Liberty will still face tough competition from Alyssa Thomas and Kahleah Cooper, both of whom averaged 14.5 points in the first two games.
