Sue Bird is known for her whimsical takes on many things. Seems like the WNBA legend brings the same front to her relationship with the former soccer player Megan Rapinoe. The two have been together since 2017 and have supported each other in every shade and shadow. The same spirit and sentiment was seen when the couple enjoyed their time at the annual mid-March film festival SXSW.

The 43-year-old recently posted a series of pictures with her beau on her Instagram profile. Out of these, the one that catches everyone’s attention is a painting of her and her partner Megan Rapinoe. However, it is not some casual art. In fact, it is a clever take on them wearing fancy silk gowns and posing like Victorian-era women. Bird also shared the post on her Instagram story saying, “Put em in the Louvre.”

The clever image is hugely liked by everyone in the fan space and are commending Sue Bird for her witty sense of humor. Apart from this, the other slides show the two in the event along with their friends.

There was also a picture from when she was on stage alongside Jessica Robertson and Justine Brown, giving her views as a keynote speaker. But why was she there?

What was Sue Bird doing at SXSW?

The unarguably best WNBA player was there representing women’s sports. The participation had to do with her co-founded companies – Togethxr and A Touch More – that help bring unheard voices to the stage through allyship and advocacy. Togethxr has USWNT legend Alex Morgan, Olympics Gold Medalist snowboarder Chloe Kim, Gold Medalist swimmer Simone Manuel, and the 5x Olympics Gold Medalist and 4 x WNBA champion Sue Bird in its very core. It is co-founded by entrepreneur and TV personality Jessica Robertson.

In the session, Robertson said, “If only 4% of media coverage is dedicated to telling female athlete stories and elevating women’s sports, it’s incredibly hard to build an audience for a community.” Seemingly, the whole idea is that since women’s sports do not make big dollars, media does not cover them. Hence, when some important issue arises, women do not get their stories told.

Clearly, Sue Bird is going places with her feet in multiple industries at once. The 13x WNBA All-Star is actively participating in sports events, she is advocating for women, and also covering her new YouTube series. And certainly, she is keeping her partner Megan Rapinoe on her side through all this.
