Home is where the heart stays, and for Caitlin Clark, that still includes Iowa. Even after moving to the WNBA in 2024, her bond with the University of Iowa remains strong. It’s where she became the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer and built her legacy. And her loyalty goes beyond the Hawkeyes. It’s tied to the people who supported her every step of the way.

CC is still closely connected to the people who stood by her throughout her college journey. And one of them is Raina Harmon. So when Harmon achieved a massive feat, CC couldn’t hold back.
She took to her Instagram story and wrote, “Yesssirr @Raina15,” reposting a video of the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles locker room showering Harmon with water in celebration.

And honestly, Harmon deserved it. She led FGCU to a statement 66-62 win over previously undefeated Stanford at the Resorts World Classic. That’s when the Eagles entered the game 0-4 all-time against the Cardinals. They opened with strong defensive intensity, contested touches around the rim, and forced Stanford into tough looks, handing the first loss of the season.
The HC equally shares credit for the big win. Majorly, as she took over a program that went 30-4 in 2024-25, playing two games under founding coach Karl Smesko before he left for the WNBA. Since her arrival, the Eagles swept the Atlantic Sun regular-season and made their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance in 14 years. But today’s win meant something different.
As Raina put it better, “I know it’s a big win because it’s a good Stanford team and they came in undefeated, but what we did tonight is really a testament to the nonconference schedule we’ve taken on. It reflects the tough opponents we’ve already faced and the ones still ahead. I thought we did a fantastic job following the scouting report and trusting each other to execute offensively. I’m just super proud of them. Go Eagles!”

So, praise from CC was well-deserved. But Caitlin and Harmon’s bond goes deeper than friendly shout-outs, as she served as an assistant coach at Iowa for eight years. Not only that, but she also helped build a culture of excellence boasting a 208-63 record and five combined Big Ten titles.
Also, Harmon developed several WNBA players, including the No. 1 overall pick and 2024 Rookie of the Year. And that’s why Clark never misses a chance to celebrate Harmon. Even when Raina was first appointed as FGCU’s head coach, CC was among the first to congratulate her. “It’s go Eagles now!! @raina15 EARNED IT!!!!!” she wrote on Instagram back on April 4. So, for CC, everything is a nod to everything every Hawkeye had accomplished.
What is Caitlin Clark planning for the offseason?
So far, Caitlin Clark has been making the most of her offseason. She attended Taylor Swift’s concert, visited the PGA Tour, and is now preparing for the Team USA training camp. She will participate in the camp in Durham from December 12 to 14, wearing jersey No. 17, which she had to switch due to Team USA rules.
If CC performs well, she could earn a spot for her first senior Team USA appearance in September 2026. That would also place her on the roster for the Women’s World Cup, for which Team USA is already qualified. But it won’t be easy for CC to qualify.
Clark has the talent, the skill, and the star power. However, the Indiana Fever standout has been limited to 13 games this season because of multiple muscle injuries. She is now in rehab. And making it more difficult are the competitors, including Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese. So, what do you think-will she secure her spot? Especially after being left off the 2024 Paris Olympics roster because of inexperience?
