The fans bashed the Indiana Fever front office for drafting Raven Johnson at No. 10. It was just too many guards with Caitlin Clark their premier point guard. Johnson arrived as a second one and many thought it wouldn’t work. Especially considering their murky past in college basketball, where Clark waived Johnson off in her freshman year. However, their first game together against the New York Liberty has shown positive signs on and off the court.

Clark had a mixed night. Returning after 9 months, she hit her first two shots from the field for five points in the first 71 seconds before missing her next 8 shots. She started the second half before sitting at the 7:06 mark of the third. Johnson, on the other hand, had a commanding preseason debut with 6 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks in 18 minutes. While the fans enjoyed the 109-91 win, an interaction between Clark and Johnson caught the eye of the fans.
Stephanie White was fiercely conducting a huddle on the sidelines with Clark exactly behind her. Johnson leaned in to say something, and Clark responded with a smile. Both had a hearty laugh, further showing some positive signs regarding their synergy together. That interaction immediately drew eyebrows as Fever fans put their disconnect fears to rest.
Fever Fans Relax as Caitlin Clark’s Friendly Moment With Raven Johnson Silences Rift Rumors
“They’re really besties now,” wrote a fan. “world peace,” commented another. That wave-off moment was reignited recently by Raven Johnson. Johnson claimed that she “got bashed” and “bullied.” She told Pro Football Sports Network’s Alex Kennedy that she even “wanted to quit basketball” because of it. Even during the training camp, she maintained that “it’s in the past.” In fact, Johnson has become Clark’s mentee, asking “a thousand” questions and getting a grip of the pro level.

“There has never been any war. It’s idiots on social media who made up nonsense that never existed,” wrote a fan. Johnson never condemned Clark for that moment. “And for the record, I don’t blame Caitlin for any of it,” she wrote in her Players Tribune essay back in 2024. “It’s not her fault. Damn near all is fair when we’re out there on the floor. She’s a dawg.” Even Aliyah Boston flatly said, “The fans always have more beef than the players actually do,” and stressed that once in the gym, the focus is solely on playing. So, it feels like the doubts on Johnson among the Fever fanbase are wearing off.
“Front Office still made a mistake?” Sarcastically asked one fan. It’s still too early to judge, but Johnson looks like the best pick they could have made. She is the exact antithesis to Clark. A safe ball handler who is elite on defense and commands the floor on her own. She has shown the ability and willingness to improve, like she did on her three-point shooting in college. Johnson’s maturity showed against Liberty a team with Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones.
“CC is a great person and leader 🎯🎯🎯,” pointed out another. Caitlin Clark is a veteran for Johnson. “I think just helping as much as I can, especially Raven, who is going to be a primary ball handler and conduct the offense. That’s a big responsibility,” Clark said regarding Raven. She has gone through some tough times in the WNBA during her two years. And as the player in the same position, she is the best person to guide her.
Even if there was no “beef,” the situation would have been slightly awkward when Johnson entered the dressing room. And as the senior, it was Clark’s responsibility to diffuse the tension. It seems she has and this duo can become one of the most exciting ones in the league if the trend continues.
