With the NBA offseason well underway basketball fans have been left in the dark as the league doesn’t return for another month. While the FIBA World Cup has served as a substitute, the tournament has already entered its latter stages with only the Final left to play. This has left fans in agony as many believe there isn’t any live basketball on for another month, and they couldn’t be more wrong. The WNBA has just concluded its regular season and is heading towards its first playoff round. With all 8 teams being confirmed after the Chicago Sky’s win last night the stage is now set for a tasty month of basketball.

Although not the NBA per se the league just had its most competitive season till date with all teams playing 40 games each. A former NBA star recently reiterated this point as he hyped up WNBA icons Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescu to perform a Nikola Jokic-inspired champion run.

During a recent episode of the podcast The Old Man and the Three, NBA star JJ Reddick opened up on the WNBA as he expressed his views on the upcoming playoff round. Mentioning his two favorites as the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces, Reddick was impressed by their squads as he believed both teams had “Warriors”-like super-teams.

Revealing that the two teams had tons of superstars, the former Mavericks man continued to wax their lyrical as he stated, “They have a ton of stars, it is not one or two, right? It’s literally all of these players (that) could be A1 or A2 on any team in the league.”

Reddick’s statement is in no sense false as both teams have quite the stacked roster.

The Aces, alongside being the current champions, have players like Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson in the squad with the two recently showing their support for teammate Sydney Colson in her new venture.

But while the Aces may have a great roster Sabrina Ionescu’s Liberty aren’t to be undermined either. The Eastern Conference toppers boast the likes of Betnijah Laney and Breanna Stewart in their squad and look to steal the crown from the Aces this time around.

JJ Reddick recalls Nikola Jokic’s championship

Before JJ Reddick made his point about the Aces and the Liberty, the 2x ACC player of the year recalled Jokic’s championship run as he gave the victory its own twist. Explaining how the NBA had pairs working cohesively like Batman and Robin, JJ elaborated that it was the “Alfreds” that mattered during the playoffs.

Going further to explain his point, the 3-point baron then gave an example of the Nuggets as he stated, “We saw that with the Denver Nuggets, Aaron Gordon is not a star.” Using Gordon as an example Reddick reiterated his point that it was not Batman and Robin but rather Alfreds that won teams the playoffs.
