“Yeah, the food, the Mexican food here is really good. I love tacos. This… the weather, oh my god. But the people too I mean the team has been really welcoming to me. I love Dearica, she’s like my second mom already so…,” Brink disclosed.

Hamby was drafted into the WNBA in 2015 when she used to ply her trade for the San Antonio Stars that later came to be known as the Las Vegas Aces. Hamby also won the WNBA Championship 2022 with the Aces. During the regular season, Hamby smashed an astonishing 9.3 points per match with 7.1 rebounds per game that season.

This led Hamby to be traded to the Sparks. She will be playing her second season with the Sparks. And as mentioned earlier, Brink was super excited to play with Hamby since the time she was drafted by the Sparks. Hence, it is natural for Hamby to take over the role of a “second mom” to Brink.

“Gosh alot! She said never let anyone see you cry, so I’m working on that, She also said just enjoy…training camp’s hard but just honestly lean on your best… so yeah I mean it’s definitely like not as bad as I thought it was going to be but still really hard. But I think I’m ready for it,” Brink continued.

Brink was almost on the verge of crying during her final game against NC State. A hopeful Brink could not get ahead of the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament. Therefore, Hamby’s advice must have resonated with Brink. Furthermore, the WNBA training is said to be harder than that of the NCAA and players take some time before getting comfortable with the level of ball at the cash-rich tournament. Hamby certainly looks to have taken on a mentor role for Brink and hopefully, she will use her 9-year WNBA experience to help the New Jersey-born, which could make her life in the WNBA.

Brink can possibly be seen next during the Preseason game against the Seattle Storm on May 4. It will be interesting to watch her adjust to the team responsibilities and the high level of balling skills. Whether she will be given a chance during the first game or not is still a question. Nonetheless, the practice session will have helped her.

And now that Hamby has been advising her, Brink would hone her talent and polish her determined personality. Fans are keen to watch Brink in the preseason game and are hoping to see her grow leaps and bounds.
