Eight years, two kids, countless headlines — then, a quiet drop of “Smith.” Skylar Diggins didn’t just walk away from her marriage in 2025. She pivoted, like a point guard dodging a full-court press. No press conference. No pity party. Just a crisp post: “My focus is on being a great teammate, adding value to this team on and off the floor and in this community, and as always, being a good mom to my two babies.”

But Skylar’s next move was even sharper.

Well, we all know by now that for Diggins, social media means much more than just a place to share pretty pictures. “With social media and being a millennial, I find myself online interacting and trying to talk to so many people and what I love about social media is it’s a direct connection between my fans and me,” she told The People in 2020. And this remains true even five years later.

It took her one IG caption — “Fumbling the bag doesn’t always mean money…” — and the internet did the rest. Fans lit up, social media saying Skylar’s recent Instagram caption definitely made it clear her ex-husband had messed up, but, honestly, Skylar wasn’t playing for headlines. She was rewriting the playbook. Quietly.

Angel Reese stamped her “the original badie.” Skylar’s response? A shrug. “I think that’s cool.” Because while the world stayed busy gossiping, Skylar stayed busy winning and having fun in her friendships. Remember the baddie selfie with Reese before that? Their curly hair as the matching accessory, and the “2 Baddies” and “2 Dawgs” caption that Reese put—that picture was everything their fans needed. Then comes to mind how Cameron Brink jumped onto Diggins after a silly dance following a half-court shot against her, and how they both erupted into laughter. One could print that picture out and frame it.

However, Diggins has always been a sort of baddie. Once, when talking about male trolls in 2016, she compared herself to “Mount Mutombo”, saying, “I block people. I’m like Dikembe Mutombo“. And honestly, who could dare to argue? “I lead with fear, not love,” she’d said three years before. So, a true ‘baddie’ through and through and a wholesome one at that.

But what keeps her motivated? Her kids, for the most part. She recently posted a picture of them, which no one expected, as she has always kept them away from the public eye. “All that matters,” she captioned the post. And as a woman who has seen everything, she wants to make things better for her daughter the most. “I have the thought that one day I want my daughter to have the opportunity to play in this league, and I’m just doing my part to make sure that’s a possibility. I’m trying to show young girls that they can do it too,” she once shared.

Now, as the new season is here, she will be looking to carry all that positivity with her and compete for a deep run. And she has all the support she needs from her team.

Did Skylar's ex really fumble the bag, or is she just playing a smarter game?

Opened in April 2024, the $64 million, 50,000-square-foot facility is more than a home base. It’s a statement of intent. Two pro courts, outdoor 3×3 courts, a nutrition center, aquatics, strength and conditioning zones — it’s where champions are built. But here’s the real game-changer: this partnership isn’t just about facilities. It’s about values. Community. Equity. As BECU’s CEO Beverly Anderson put it, “We knew we wanted to do more.”

Now, with this powerhouse partnership, the Storm aren’t just aiming for wins — they’re setting a new gold standard.
