The USAWBNT finally ended their quest for gold in Paris after a narrow win against France. Yes, it wasn’t an easy victory for A’ja Wilson, as the game was inches away from extending to overtime. Gabby Williams, the French power forward, drained a deep two at the buzzer with her foot being just a couple of inches inside the arc. Nevertheless, right after the gold medal game, ESPN projected the 2028 lineup of the women’s national team. And notable names such as Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark were bound to come up.
Considering their rookie season performance, both players were deserving of a spot on the national team. Clark and Reese will be the favorites to suit up for the 2028 Olympics in LA. However, Angel Reese doesn’t want to be bothered by the future projections just yet, as she confirmed on Twitter. “Let’s just congratulate these women & let them enjoy this moment! Leave me out of this until my time comes!” wrote Reese.

Before the next Olympics, the former LSU Tiger has quite a few seasons to look out for. A lot will change by the time the next Summer Olympics tip off. And to be counted in for the squad just yet doesn’t seem so optimal for Reese. She has a lot to look forward to before she makes her first Olympic appearance. Along with that, Caitlin Clark who had a fantastic season and has the basketball world on a spin in her rookie season will also look to make her Olympic debut in LA.
At the end of the day, it will be interesting to watch Clark and Reese team up in the future. Fans always wanted to witness LeBron James and Stephen Curry in action, and the same goes for these two who made up for an iconic rivalry in the history of college basketball. But then again, why were Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese snubbed from the women’s national team this year?
