“She has like the wiggle of a guy, she is so good, her passing, her shooting, her court vision,” Sophie says in her Show Me Something podcast.

Miles is not just putting impressive numbers among the rookies. She is performing at a level where she is now being considered among the league’s best at the point guard position.

While fans and experts alike were of the general opinion before the start of the season that this year’s draft class would be one of the less amusing ones. They pointed out that none of the players up for grabs show the talent of their predecessors, like Paige Bueckers or Caitlin Clark. Boy oh boy, were they all in for a surprise.

Olivia Miles is now chasing the phenomenal records that Caitlin Clark put up in her rookie season. Specifically, most points by a rookie and most assists in the rookie season. While Clark averaged 19.2 PTS, 8.4 AST, 5.7 REB, and 1.3 STL per game, Miles is not far behind.

Olivia Miles is now averaging 18.6 PTS, 5.9 AST, 5.1.REB and 1.4 STL this season. She is only marginally behind on points and rebounds. While Clark scored 769 points in total that season, Miles has already scored 242 points as of now. So it’s likely that she will surpass Caitlin’s tally in total points. However, there is a catch.

The WNBA is expanding every year. When Clark set the record for most points by a rookie in a season, there were only 40 games in total. But this year will have a total of 44 games for every team. So, in terms of total games, Miles has a 4-game advantage. But it’s an advantage that Caitlin had as well. Clark beat the record set by Seimone Augustus, who played in a 34-game season. Only Clark and Augustus have posted 700+ points in a rookie season as of now.

It looks like Miles will finish second in the total assists in the rookie season category as well. Miles is behind at 5.9 per game versus Clark’s 8.4 per game, which means, going by the present rate, Miles will finish with a total of 261 assists. Clark had 337.

So judging by a per-game average, it looks like Miles will come up short against Caitlin’s numbers. But the numbers are still very impressive. Anyone who can come this close to Caitlin’s numbers deserves their flowers. At least Sophie Cunningham thinks so.

Miles Has Locked Down the Point Guard Position for Lynx

The Lynx were reeling from injuries and departures. Their star forward Napheesa Collier is out with an ankle injury and also lost the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Alanna Smith. So nobody expected them to turn it around so soon.

However, all of this is in no small measure because of Olivia Miles. She is leading this Lynx team in points at 18.6. This is better than veterans like Natasha Howard and Courtney Williams.

She also leads the Lynix in assists. And in this category, it’s not even close. Miles’ 5.9 AST per game is followed by Williams 4.1 AST per game. Her teammates are now comfortable enough to run their offensive plays through her.

“She’s a little baby Chelsea Gray,” Williams said about Olivia Miles after just one game of the season. Miles “makes the game easier,” Williams has separately also said about Miles.

Safe to say, the Lynx are happy with the number 2 pick in the draft and look poised to make a deep playoff run.
