The back-to-back matchups between the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever gave fans everything from technical fouls and heated exchanges to a controversial hit on Caitlin Clark’s throat. Yet somehow, the moment that refuses to die wasn’t a hard foul or an ejection. It was Sophie Cunningham silently pointing at DeWanna Bonner with a poker face.

So much so that after becoming a nationwide meme, everyone is now demanding it be the next WNBA logo. And Cunningham, who is known for her mischievous activities, couldn’t help but take action.
“Petition to make this the WNBA logo,” read the post that shared fan Leah Lowe’s creation of a silhouette of Sophie Cunningham’s viral finger-pointing body and placed it on the orange backdrop used by the league to resemble the WNBA’s logo. Unable to resist, Cunningham reacted to the post by liking it.
The fan-made silhouette stems from the June 22nd game, where the Fever locked horns with the Mercury for the first time in the 2026 season.
In that game, emotions boiled over during the fourth quarter, when Clark and Bonner got tangled up while battling for position. Now, this could have been just another heated moment in a highly anticipated game. But everything quickly spiraled as both of them got into a verbal exchange after Clark was assessed a personal foul.
This led Alyssa Thomas to step in and defend her teammate, prompting Myisha Hines-Allen to also come in and exchange words. So, to put a stop to this, the officials gave both of them a technical foul.
But this only made Bonner furious as she started to voice her frustration about Indiana’s aggressiveness. And that’s when Sophie Cunningham entered the picture. The Fever guard walked over and, without saying a single word, repeatedly pointed her finger at the Mercury veteran with a poker face.
That silent gesture only seemed to irritate Bonner even more as the situation eventually became so heated that security personnel from both teams had to step in and separate players before things escalated any further. In the end, Clark, Cunningham, and Bonner also ended up with techs in their bag.
“That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever done,” the 29-year-old revealed in the latest episode of Show Me Something. “I’m telling you, everyone’s like, ‘That is so dumb.’ I think it’s dumb, but it was pissing her off, and I couldn’t help myself. I could not. She was losing her s—, and all I was doing was literally pointing.”

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham (8) points to Phoenix Mercury forward-guard DeWanna Bonner (24) after an argument between the two on Monday, June 22, 2026, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Indiana Fever defeated the Phoenix Mercury, 86-77.
Since then, that incident has grown into something much bigger than anyone probably expected. Because what started as Sophie Cunningham trying to get under Bonner’s skin has turned into finger-pointing, memes, edits, and now even a campaign to make it the WNBA’s next logo. Cunningham simply showed she’s more than happy to play along with one of the WNBA’s biggest viral moments this season.
