Sophie Cunningham is anything but conventional. After meeting Sydney Sweeney, one of the biggest Hollywood superstars today, she just had to post a wacky caption. “One of us forgot our t— at home 😜 @sydney_sweeney,” Cunningham wrote with their photo at the NASCAR weekend in Phoenix. It was obviously all fun, but it raised some eyebrows among the fans. While addressing that tweet, however, Cunningham doubled down on that joke.

“I was like, dude, this is not a competition. My t— are clearly way better than hers,” Cunningham said with a laugh on her podcast ‘Show Me Something’. Cunningham mentioned that Sweeney instantly made a strong first impression. “She’s (Sweeney) actually so nice. I think she is a very nice girl. Like, I could be best friends with her,” Cunningham said. Her co-host, Caleb Wilson, enquired whether Sweeney recognised Cunningham as the WNBA star.
“I don’t know,” Cunningham said. “Well, I don’t know, but like everyone, when you’re around that, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, like (it’s all) love. I don’t know. You know what I mean? But super nice. And so we just got a quick pic, and it was fun.”

What Cunningham means is, the event was filled with multiple VIPs and was naturally chaotic. Sweeney played a formal role in the pre-race ceremonies, holding a checkered flag as she delivered a speech on hard work and resilience. She also promoted her upcoming film ‘Christy’. Cunningham, on the other hand, was the pace car driver. They both had important responsibilities in the finale of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship, which had strict timelines.

“We just talked for like, I’d say, a minute, two minutes. Like, it was really quick because everyone, like, there was celebrities and VIPs, and so we were all kind of doing our own thing. So it was a very quick, like, ‘Hey, how are you? So nice to meet you,” Cunningham said.

The WNBA has been rising in popularity over the last few years, reaching millions of new fans, including celebrities like Jessica Alba and Alicia Keys. But is Sweeney Sweeney one of them? She appeared at the Knicks-Nets game earlier this year, so there is a possibility Sweeney might follow basketball to some extent.
However, the ‘Euphoria’ star hasn’t publicly expressed any WNBA interest so far. Maybe after linking up with Sophie Cunningham, she could attend a WNBA game next season. If Cunningham is still at the Indiana Fever, it could even be an Indiana Fever game. Beyond her meet and greet with the actress, Cunningham also had an awkward moment at the event, one with a Cathy Engelbert aide!

Sophie Cunningham Reveals Encounter With Cathy Engelbert’s Associate
Sophie Cunningham has been a brutal critic of Cathy Engelbert in the ongoing CBA controversy. Cunningham has said she’s “not really a fan of our leadership,” while accusing the WNBA of “failing us as a league, definitely failing us as players.” Cunningham then called it “shameful” that Engelbert always “makes it about her.” The talks are still going on with the latest one-month extension to the deadline. However, Cunningham was met with someone from the Engelbert’s camp at the NASCAR event, who posed a question at an awkward time
“Someone who is friends with Cathy came up to me while I was meeting, greeting, taking photos, like, “So, what could she do better?” And I was like,” Cunningham revealed while making a mocking ‘can you believe this face’. She still took the time to answer Engelbert’s friend.

“I was like, ‘Well,’ so I told him a couple, and I was like, ‘All right, I gotta go.” So that was kind of funny, but I’m fine with answering that, but it was just kind of, “Hey, time and place, like everyone’s having a good time.” That was like the VIP when you meet everybody, red carpet. So it was kind of a weird time,” Cunningham said.
There are definitely more than a couple of faults that Cunningham would have told her. Engelbert has completely fractured her relationship with the players. She completely denied what Napheesa Collier accused her of saying regarding Caitlin Clark, essentially calling her a liar. Engelbert is not ready to give Sophie Cunningham and Co. their share of WNBA revenue, which is the key point of contention in the negotiations. Then there is the issue of transparency regarding the revenue. The list goes on and on, but Cunningham had other things to prioritise.
