Not to mention, her jersey sold out, and the public began to love her!

And according to Dan Beyer and Monse Bolanos from Fox Sports Radio, her sudden breakout should be a lesson for all the other players in the league. “Other WNBA players are not picking up on the game plan and how they could make themselves more popular because they can’t swallow their own pride. They can’t get out of their own way.” Beyer said.  “They should follow Sophie Cunningham’s example. And guess what? They may actually benefit for it. That’s what I don’t understand.” And to be honest? His shock is pretty justified.

From getting deals with Arby’s to seeing a lot more time on the court, Sophie Cunningham’s passion and protective nature have served the six-foot-one guard well. Even Bolanos pointed out that the rest of the WNBA’s sheer refusal to adapt is confusing. “Sophie Cunningham’s trajectory of popularity happening as quickly as it did, literally overnight, it is shocking that nobody else has picked up on that.” She said. Bolanos did point out that the attention Cunningham gets is not always positive, but that’s bound to happen.
