The Indiana Fever’s latest front-office shake-up has raised fresh questions about the franchise’s direction, but one decision is already leaving fans frustrated. After parting ways with team president Kelly Krauskopf and firing general manager and chief operating officer Amber Cox on the same day, Indiana appears set to retain head coach Stephanie White despite months of calls for her to step down.

Throughout the 2026 season, fans have made their dissatisfaction with coach White increasingly clear. Now, with two key executives out of the picture but the 49-year-old coach seemingly still in place, the Fever are facing another wave of backlash from fans who had been hoping to see her go as well.

“😭😭we couldn’t get rid of the main issue,” one fan wrote under an X post by Underdog WNBA reporting that White is “expected to remain Fever head coach, per @ItsMeghanLHall.”

While another added, “White is the biggest problem with that team! They cannot let her stay!”

When the Fever hired White as head coach in 2024, the decision was widely welcomed. She had previously been on Indiana’s coaching staff when the franchise won its first and only WNBA championship in 2012. However, fast-forward to today, many fans are calling for a change.

One of the biggest sources of frustration has been White’s relationship with Caitlin Clark. Throughout the 2026 season, the two were involved in multiple tense on-court exchanges, fueling speculation about a fractured relationship.

One such moment came on May 30 against the Portland Fire. White and Clark were caught in a heated exchange during a bench huddle before the coach substituted Clark out for Raven Johnson. Kelsey Mitchell and Makayla Timpson appeared to try to calm Clark as she shook her head behind White. So although both Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White have pushed back against the narrative surrounding their relationship, moments like these have kept the conversation alive.

But despite the growing calls for a coaching change, White is reportedly expected to remain in Indiana.

“The person with direct knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports Fever head coach Stephanie White is expected to remain in her role,” USA Today’s Meghan L. Hall reported.

The Athletic’s Annie Costabile also reported that White is expected to remain head coach, citing a source familiar with the discussions. And that news has done little to appease frustrated Fever fans.

“The one person that needed to leave is staying. I’ll be watching another team then,” another fan added. While one wrote, “That doesn’t mean that White will stay on if the new GM doesn’t want her and buys out her one-year contract left.”

It is worth noting that Indiana had the WNBA’s highest offensive rating at 117.0 and led the league in scoring with 4,222 points in 2026. However, the Fever still took a step backward. They exited in the first round of the playoffs after reaching the semifinals in 2025.

Yet with Stephanie White’s contract set to expire after the 2027 season, the organization appears willing to give her another year before evaluating her future.

“Steph survived the Cold War,” one fan humorously added.

For now, the coach appears to be safe in Indiana, but the latest front-office shake-up has done little to quiet fans who want to see her go.
