When Stephanie White stepped into the Indiana Fever’s locker room, she didn’t just bring a victorious grin, she brought foresight. The head coach had just wrapped up a historic night in a pair of Caitlin Clark’s signature Nike Kobe V Protros, which had sold out in minutes earlier this week and were therefore handed off to a staffer for protection against the chaos she knew was coming. The bubbly was already being popped. But while White was prepared, Sydney Colson? She walked right into the storm.

Few expected it to end this way for the Fever. The Minnesota Lynx were the defending champs, and after jumping out to a strong 20–12 lead in the first quarter, it looked like they were cruising toward another title. Their 12–0 run early on set the tone, and with the game in Minneapolis and a league-best 14–2 record behind them, the energy was unmistakably on their side. In fact, ESPN briefly pushed a “Lynx dominate Fever” thumbnail on YouTube before pulling it as Indiana flipped the script.

In the second quarter, they held Minnesota to just seven points, the Lynx’s lowest-scoring quarter of the season, and unleashed an 18–0 closing run, turning a 15-point deficit into a 5-point halftime lead. The momentum turned, and from there, it was all Fever. Aliyah Boston controlled the paint. Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard, Aari McDonald, and Sophie Cunningham filled the stat sheet. Each finished in double figures. And all of it came without Caitlin Clark, who missed her third straight game due to a groin injury. It wasn’t just a win, it was a statement that carried the weight of disbelief. That disbelief exploded into joy. Coach White may have expected the champagne, but Colson was ambushed—twice.

The veteran had just wrapped up a media scrum when she walked back into the locker room and got hit again by a second round of bubbly, this time with Caitlin Clark leading the charge. As the Fever soaked her again, Colson’s reaction said it all: “I don’t know how to spray. I’m not a drinker. I don’t know how to do champagne celebrations.”

Then she laughed and added, “A lot of the girls went to party schools. I hate to say the white girls, but the white girls were chugging the beers. Then there’s CC in there biting all the bottles for everybody, biting through cans and sh-t—but it was fun.” And this wasn’t just a few bottles getting passed around—it was a full-blown rager.

Clark bit open a bottle cap. Then she and Lexie Hull joined Cunningham in shotgunning beers. Clark even halted Aliyah Boston’s live interview mid-celebration and paraded around the locker roo, making sure everyone got a sip from the champagne-filled Cup trophy.

Amid the hilarity, Clark’s voice cut through: “Who’s next? Guys, is K.K. 21?” she yelled, checking if rookie Makayla Timpson—who turns 23 in September—was legally allowed to join in the boozy celebrations. It was a playful moment, but also a reminder of just how young this team is– holding a championship trophy, celebrating like they’d done it before, because they believed they would. Even the coaches got in on the action. “The coaches were having a good time, chugging out of the Commissioner’s Cup,” Colson said. “It was fun. It was a good vibe.”

It wasn’t lost on anyone just how far the Fever have come. The team that once couldn’t finish close games now made a statement with their depth, grit, and poise under pressure. And with Clark out, the victory felt like a coming-of-age moment for the rest of the roster, led by veterans and role players who stepped up when it mattered most. So yes, they drenched each other in champagne. Yes, they went wild. And yes, they earned every bit of it. As for Colson, the guard who logged her most minutes since May 28, she got a memory she won’t forget. But as for CC, she’s already done the champagne thing before.

Caitlin Clark has got a special place in the Fever locker room!

Whether it’s dropping dimes on the court or doling out tiaras off it, Caitlin Clark knows how to celebrate her teammates like no other. When Lexie Hull announced her engagement in April 2025, it didn’t take long for Clark to make her excitement known as she left a viral “YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYY SO HAPPY💕” comment and took part in a surprise mid-court celebration.

And that, too, was equally wild—as during a Fever practice, CC was the first to dash toward Hull, tiara in hand and joy written all over her face, making sure the soon-to-be bride was showered with love and laughter. She didn’t just cheer online—she lived the moment with full spirit, proving once again that she’s as much of a hype woman as she is a superstar point guard.

But Caitlin isn’t the only one setting the tone in Indy. The Fever’s bond is clearly mutual. When Clark jokingly confirmed on ESPNW’s post that “Yes, yes we did” buy those bride-themed gifts, Aliyah Boston chimed in right away, “Yes we sure did because that’s who we are as teammates.”

And if you still have any doubt, then just consider last year’s locker room diaries—when a heartwarming moment was captured with CC being commended by her HC before she was doused with water by her delighted teammates. Coach Sides announced, “First time for a rookie to get a triple-double in franchise history,” pointing to Clark seated beside her. Moments later, the team rushed over to drench her with water, much to Clark’s surprise. So yes, the celebration isn’t just by Clark—it’s mutual in the Fever locker room!
