The fallout from the breakup between Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson extended far beyond the two people directly involved. WNBA star Lexie Brown got dragged into the chaos. She was falsely accused of having an affair with Thompson, with no basis in fact whatsoever.

Brown moved quickly to defend herself and clear her name, publicly calling on Thompson to set the record straight. That call, as it turns out, earned her the backing of Gilbert Arenas, who felt it was exactly the right move to make.

For Arenas, the responsibility to make things right didn’t rest on Brown; it rested squarely on Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson. Speaking on his show, he was direct about it. “Lexie is professional, and she handled it in the right way. She’s not involved with it. They do owe her an apology. They do owe her, I can’t say a full apology, cause it’s whoever put her in there, but they do owe her like ‘hey, it’s not her,'” Arenas said.

The events began on April 25, when Megan confirmed her split from Thompson after nearly a year of dating. In a series of Instagram Stories, Megan appeared to accuse the Dallas Mavericks player of infidelity. The internet wasted no time hunting for answers, leading to an unsubstantiated post on X. It falsely named Seattle Storm guard Lexie Brown as the alleged other woman. This claim had no factual grounding whatsoever.

Brown, of course, shut it down immediately. She took to Instagram to state that the accusations were 100% false and that she had zero involvement in the situation. But denying it wasn’t enough on its own. She went further, publicly calling out both Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion for their silence.  And she was quite disappointed because, despite knowing she was innocent, not addressing the issue left her to the public, who continued to drag her name through the mud.

And beyond just are reputation that was at risks, it also became a matter of safety for Brown. As she also pointed out, she and her family were receiving severe harassment as a result of the false accusation. So at this point, coming out to give proper clarification is no longer just a courtesy. It was indeed important for her safety and that of her family.

That silence was what truly frustrated Gilbert Arenas. “I’m disappointed that none of them come out to say no. Why are you all dragging her?” he said. In his view, the math was simple: one of the two parties at the center of this situation had the power to end the harassment Lexie Brown was facing with a single statement, and neither chose to do so.

As of now, neither Klay Thompson nor Megan Thee Stallion has publicly addressed the false accusations directed at Brown. Lexie Brown, for her part, handled an unfair and dangerous situation with professionalism and dignity. Whether those who put her in it will eventually do right by her remains to be seen.

Lexie Brown Questions Wider Narrative Amid Silence Over Her Ordeal

Lexie Brown is still struggling to make sense of Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion’s silence over the false accusations directed at her. As she said, “The fact that I’m still the only one that is defending my name, I have no idea how to process that.”

But what has compounded that pain is the broader silence that has surrounded her ordeal. “And that’s the last thing that I’m struggling to process, is that there’s this massive outcry for protecting Black women and nobody has mentioned Lexie Brown’s name in any of those conversations,” she said.

According to Brown, she was hopefully expecting that the truth would surface on its own. That the people at the center of it would do the right thing. “The truth is over there somewhere, and I was expecting it to reveal itself from that side of it,” she said. Neither Megan nor Klay moved to address the situation. When the wider public largely allowed the narrative to run unchecked, the disappointment settled in deeply. “For them to just allow me to get dragged, for a lot of people to allow me to get dragged through the mud, it was just really disappointing,” she said. It’s hard to argue with that.

At the very least, Lexie Brown has not been entirely without support. Gilbert Arenas was among the more prominent voices to come to her defense.  It may be a start, and perhaps, as the conversation continues to gain traction, more voices will follow.
