Yet another record was broken as Caitlin Clark continued her stellar rookie season. Clark has already bagged the top place for the most assists in a single season by a rookie. With the third assist against the Seattle Storm, the Indiana Fever guard left former Sacramento Monarchs star Ticha Penicheiro behind, who earlier set the benchmark with 225 assists in her rookie season in 1998. Interestingly, Penicheiro also couldn’t resist herself from addressing Clark’s record-breaking performance.
Indiana Fever shared a video on X which saw Ticha Penicheiro extending her wishes to Caitlin Clark as she believes “the record is in great hands”. And it took minutes for the former Sacramento star to retweet the video as she wrote on her X, “Records are meant to be broken…it shows growth and evolution. Can’t think of a better player to break it!! Congrats @CaitlinClark22.” While Penicheiro has expressed her pleasure over social media, she couldn’t attend the Fever vs. Storm game.
