Caitlin Clark is accustomed to drawing attention wherever she goes, but her latest pregame interaction came with a little more star power than usual. This time, the NFL’s Kelce family found themselves in the spotlight alongside the Indiana Fever superstar, leading to a wholesome comment by the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end, Travis Kelce.

Before Indiana’s most recent game against the Minnesota Lynx, Clark crossed paths with Donna Kelce, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and retired player Jason Kelce. Donna Kelce was captured sitting courtside by the Indiana Fever’s official social media account. Also captured by the team was the interaction between Clark and Donna, with the two sharing a brief hug before the game, which Travis Kelce reacted to on Instagram.
“CC’s the realest!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻,” Kelce commented.
The relationship between Caitlin Clark and the Kelce family is not new. Kelce has played for the Kansas City Chiefs his entire professional career, a team that Clark has been a longtime fan of. They are also connected by Clark’s friendship with Kelce’s wife, global pop sensation Taylor Swift. Clark has even accompanied Swift at the Chiefs’ home ground, Arrowhead Stadium, in her private suite.
Clark has been open about being a Chiefs fan since childhood, which she explained during an appearance on Manningcast (Monday Night Football broadcast hosted by Peyton and Eli Manning) in 2023.
“I’ve been a Chiefs fan since I was a young girl,” she said. “My brother was a Chiefs fan, my dad was a Chiefs fan. I had cousins in Kansas City that were Chiefs fans. Honestly, it was just something all I knew… In our basement, we had a Chiefs vending machine. We had those toy helmets that were Chiefs that you could run around in the yard and I could knock helmets with my brothers.”
Notably, this isn’t the first encounter between Clark and Kelce. The Fever star has appeared on New Heights, the podcast hosted by Travis and his brother Jason, where she spoke about several topics, including her signature Nike Caitlin 1 shoe.
There, Clark stated that she wanted Chiefs head coach Andy Reid to coach in her signature shoe someday during her appearance on Kelce’s podcast, and expressed that she “definitely” had interest in dedicating a colorway to the Chiefs. It seems like that interest has borne fruit.
Just a few days ago, Clark thrilled her fandom by showing off a new colorway for her signature shoe, named “Sea of Red,” with it being showcased on social media by Reid. Right now, there’s no news on when the colorway is set to be released. The guard debuted the colorway on the court against the Washington Mystics on September 20.
The bond that Caitlin Clark shares with the Chiefs cannot be understated. And now, with her latest pregame moment with Mama Kelce, Clark’s relationship with the Kelces continues to produce moments that extend beyond the court.
