While Angel Reese broke through the WNBA spectrum for rebounding, is the Chicago Sky Star’s prowess limited to just one skill? Sky head coach Tyler Marsh says no for now. Moreover, Reese’s recent scoring prowess last season and her latest collaboration with the Stephen Curry-backed GOAT movie validate her class as an all-around player as well as a star who can shine on the global stage.

Having coached Reese for the 2025 WNBA season, Marsh denied the perspective of Reese’s role as just a rebounder in a recent discussion on the A Star Struck podcast. “From a playing standpoint, she’s a lot more versatile than some people give her credit for, ” Marsh said. “I think that people put her in a box of rebounder, but she can do a little bit more of that. So, the sky is the limit on who she can be as a player.”

Rebounding is the strongest element of Reese’s career. And her consecutive WNBA rebounding leader feat automatically validates this. Angel Reese has topped her team and the league in rebounding averages in both seasons. Moreover, there have been several instances in which Reese has taken the offensive lead for the Chicago Sky. Her season-high 24 points against the Los Angeles Sparks in June, which contributed to a 92-85 win for the Sky, is the latest example of what she could do outside of just rebounding.

Her coach, Marsh, believes the Chicago Sky’s power forwards’ overall skill set will develop over time. He further highlighted her off-court prowess and added, “She’s a star, and she’s continuing to learn who she is as a player. In this league, she is a back-to-back two-time all-star, so she has made a statement early. And obviously, what she is doing off the court is just inspirational.”

Besides her on-court prowess, Reese’s off-court endeavors have surged of late, as Sky coach Marsh mentioned. This has mainly contributed to her overall brand development on a global stage, like her peer Caitlin Clark. From a significant sponsorship deal with Reebok to television appearances in shows like Idris Elba’s A House of Dynamite, Reese has been expanding her off-court portfolio to the nook and corner.

She is further set to expand her filmography and journey in Hollywood with the Goat anime movie produced by veteran guard Curry. According to reports, Reese has been cast in a special appearance role in the project. And it will allow us to witness an anticipated collaboration between NBA legend Curry and an upcoming WNBA icon, despite being in an off-court setting.

Angel Reese’s Next Stride Towards a Hollywood Star

Angel Reese kicked off her screen appearances with the LSU docuseries, The Money Game, before transitioning onto the big screen with A House of Dynamite. For the first time in her career, the Chicago Sky player will portray a character that is not herself. She will reportedly voice the polar bear character, Propp, in contrast to The Money Game and A House of Dynamite, where she plays herself.

The anime stars major Hollywood superstars, including Caleb McLaughlin, who will voice Will, the goat. Other members of the cast include Stranger Things star David Harbour and the producer himself, Stephen Curry. Curry will voice the giraffe, Lenny Williamson, in the project, while Reese’s WNBA peer A’ja Wilson plays Kouyate, a reptile.

Set to release on Feb. 13, the anime movie is “inspiring” and “uplifting” for a spectrum of audiences, per producer Curry. With its star-studded cast, the movie has raised fans’ anticipation. On top of that, the addition of basketball superstars Curry, Reese, and Wilson is also transcending this anticipation beyond Hollywood. Moreover, this opportunity is also a positive for women’s sports, as it shows that Hollywood is willing to bank on WNBA superstars like Reese and Wilson.
