Caitlin Clark may not have lit up the box score, but she still walked away with the loudest moment of the night.

Watch What’s Trending Now!

As she made her way off the court following the Indiana Fever’s 109–91 preseason win over the New York Liberty, the 24-year-old star spotted a young fan. As the kind-hearted player that she is, she walked over, took off her sneakers, signed them, and handed them to a young boy in the crowd. A simple gesture, yet one that quickly took over the internet. Fans were even more delighted especially when they found out more about the shoes.

Those weren’t just any regular sneakers, but an unreleased pair of Kobe 5 PEs.

The shoe featured a clean white base layered with light blue detailing on the Swoosh and heel, bright yellow accents on the tongue and sockliner, and a subtle camo mix of yellow and blue on the outsole. It wasn’t the kind of pair you just gloss over; it had just enough detail to stand out without trying too hard. And there’s a story behind it, too.

As per Sole Retriever, the pair is part of Caitlin Clark’s “Parent Trap” PE collection, inspired by her favorite film, The Parent Trap.

The idea for them ties back to the movie’s twin concept, with Clark previously spotted in a matching Kobe 6 Protro PE, making this Kobe 5 version feel like the other half of that set.

Unlike the asymmetric Kobe 6 look, this pair keeps things more balanced, but still carries the same color inspiration pulled from the film’s poster. It’s subtle storytelling through design, and that’s exactly what made fans latch onto it almost instantly.

There’s still no confirmation on whether this pair will ever see a public release or stay exclusive which is exactly what made it hit even harder. When instead of holding onto a rare, unreleased pair, Clark signed them and gave them away, just like that.

So once that realization hit, the internet didn’t take long to react.

Fans Lose It Over Caitlin Clark’s Giveaway

As her gesture went viral, fans took to social media to share their love for the young star.

“The way I would pass out if she gave me her shoes 😂,” one fan wrote. While another simply added, “Should’ve been me 🙌.”

We know that every fan would love to get their hands on these shoes but there’s still no clarity on whether these Kobe 5 PEs will ever hit the market. Fortunately for Clark’s fans, signature sneaker era is officially on the way.

Nike has confirmed that Clark’s first signature shoe, the Caitlin 1, is set to debut on September 29, 2026, just ahead of the WNBA playoffs. The shoe is expected to arrive in multiple colorways across 2026 and 2027, with pricing set at $140 for adult sizes, alongside grade school and preschool versions.

And if early hints are anything to go by, it won’t just be another signature drop.

Speaking on the New Heights podcast, Clark teased that the model will feature “never-before-seen basketball technology.” While full technical details are still under wraps, early reports suggest the inclusion of advanced cushioning setups, potentially featuring encapsulated Zoom Air.

So even if the Kobe PEs remain exclusive for now, fans can get there hands on these shoes once they launch.

One fan added “Caitlin Clark is so special.” Whereas another wrote, “Always taking care of her fans! 👏”

The gesture by Caitlin Clark was definitely special. But it’s worth noting that this game was also Clark’s first game back with the Fever after her 2025 season was cut short just 13 games in.

In the game, Clark kept things controlled and “didn’t force anything” as head coach Stephanie White takes a “smart” approach with her.

In the 17 minutes she was on the court, the Fever star finished the game with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block, shooting 2-of-10 from the field and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc. Yes, those numbers aren’t attention-grabbing, but they were never meant to be. Because after her last season ended with an injury, this game was just about getting back on the floor.

But for fans, the numbers barely mattered, because this moment off the court was what stuck the most.

“I love Caitlin Clark !🙌❤️ 🔥😢😍,” one fan wrote.

In the end, the box score was irrelevant; Clark’s simple act of generosity with a priceless pair of sneakers created the night’s defining highlight.
