As the Chicago Sky fell 113-90 to the Indiana Fever, Sky guard DiJonai Carrington has once again caused a stir, as fresh footage of Carrington and Caitlin Clark is drawing attention. Two sequences separated by a mere 40 seconds showcase the physical battle between the two guards, with Carrington even being handed a foul.

The second sequence came with about six minutes and 20 seconds left in the second quarter. Caitlin Clark knocked down a three-pointer with Carrington contesting her. As the Fever ran back on defense, Carrington seemingly bumped Clark while running back. While this was not assessed as a foul, it generated chatter online. The clip was posted to X by @BrickCenter_ and has generated over 136,000 views.
Their contact drew attention because just 40 seconds earlier, with seven minutes left in the quarter, Clark and Carrington had been involved in a different altercation. During the play, Carrington was called for a foul on Clark after blocking her drive. Instead of accepting the decision, Carrington argued with referee Charles Watson and made an exaggerated move by throwing her head back. A clip of the exchange was posted to X by user @SnapshotKyle.
This is familiar territory for both Carrington and the Fever, because she saw a highly publicized event during their previous matchup as well. Infamously, she was ejected in the first quarter of the teams’ previous game on August 8 after being assessed a Flagrant 2 foul for hitting Sophie Cunningham. The call was upgraded from a Flagrant 1 and led to Carrington being fined $1,000.
Carrington also has plenty of history with Clark. Back in 2024, a similar sequence had unfolded. During the Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun on June 10, 2024, then-Sun guard Carrington was called for a foul on an extremely similar play when she blocked a driving lane and, similar to the latest incident, argued that Clark was flopping, flailing her arms and shoulders back in front of the refs.
Then, later that year, the Fever met the Sun in the playoffs. On September 22 of that year, during Game 1 of the series, Carrington made contact with Clark’s eyes during a defensive sequence, leading to the Fever star ending up with a black eye. Both players separately explained that they thought the contact was accidental.
“It wasn’t intentional by any means. You just watched the play, it wasn’t intentional,” Clark told reporters afterward.
The most recent game between Clark and Carrington’s teams was a one-sided affair, with Clark leading the charge for a Fever team forced to play without Aliyah Boston, who sat out tonight’s game with a leg injury. Caitlin Clark logged an outstanding 37 points and 10 assists, hitting eight of her 12 three-pointers.
On the other hand, Carrington struggled massively, finishing with just seven points on 3-11 shooting while missing all of her three-point attempts.
With both players under a microscope heading into the matchup, the footage of their clash was always going to generate attention. Carrington’s bump and accusations of Clark flopping might have been just two moments of an otherwise eventful game, but the spotlight is now on the familiar opponents.
