One of the individuals who doesn’t think the New York Knicks can win with Jalen Brunson as their top player is Becky Hammon, the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces. She maintained that the 6-foot-1 guard is not the kind of great player New York needs.

Knicks point guard Brunson had a remarkable performance during their 3-2 run, scoring 50 points and hitting all nine of his three-point shots flawlessly in their win over the Phoenix Suns. While the Knicks continue to dominate, Hammon feels that something is not enough for the Knicks.

During the recent NBA Today show, Becky Hammon, a former New York Liberty star and current part-time ESPN NBA commentator, engaged in a conversation regarding the challenges of defending against a game-changing, sharpshooting point guard from New York City. She positioned herself as the modern-day counterpart of Sir Charles and discussed the current state of urban men’s basketball. Meanwhile, the New York Knicks (16-11) have been a hot topic this Christmas season with their recent victories over the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets on their five-game road trip.

“I think you’re going to get a consistent team, like they’ve been. They’ve been a pretty good team; they’re well-coached, and they’re going to be on their defensive game. But, at the end of the day, they don’t have a dude. You’ve got to have a dude; you’ve got to have a 1A dude, and they’re missing that at the end of the day, if we’re just getting down to brass taxes.”

According to former NBA player Kendrick Perkins, Brunson’s addition to the Knicks may help them get into the playoffs. Contrary to Perkins, Hammon pointed out that their finest player is too short. “He is too small. If your best player is small, you’re not winning. John Stockton, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash—you can go down the list. Steph Curry is the only dude.”

These comments stirred a commotion among NBA as well as New York fans.

But this is not the first time the winning coach of the Aces has triggered such a situation. However, her recent remarks have put the guard on the spotlight.
