Where is Veronica Burton from, and what is her nationality?
Born on July 12, 2000, Burton is an American professional basketball player. She played collegiate basketball at Northwestern and was drafted in 2022 by the Dallas Wings. She represented the U.S. at the 2021 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup and won a gold medal, as well.
But all these accomplishments come from her family. Her father, Steve Burton, played quarterback at Northwestern and is currently a sports broadcaster in Boston. Even her mother was an All-American swimmer at Northwestern, who once also competed in the 1984 Olympic trials. So yes, she’s got athleticism in her genes. But what about her ethnicity?

Is Veronica Burton Christian?
Whenever Burton’s had her lowest moments, there have been two things that helped her stay strong. One, of course, was her family, but the other was her faith in God. And that’s why, when she was waived by the Wings, her father found her reading the Bible in her room. “I’m struggling because I don’t know where He wants me, but my faith in God is getting stronger,” she replied, according to MassLive.com, when her father asked her how she was doing. And soon, she knew her answer as she landed with the Sun, and now she’s made it to the playoffs for the fourth year in a row.

Ever since she left the Sun and GSV picked her up, she’s been a regular starter for the first time in her career. “When it comes down to it, basketball is talked about a lot in my life, family is talked about in my life, and school, but at the end of the day, the thing that I want to talk about most, the thing that is most important to me, is my faith,” she told the Sports Spectrum Podcast in 2023.

So, when the historic feat for GSV came—where they beat the Chicago Sky 90-59 and broke the WNBA record for wins by an expansion team with 18—she knew whom to thank. “The one thing that I try and thank Him for every day is just the opportunities that He’s presented for me, because I’ve been able to experience a lot of great things, and things have worked out in my favor,” she said on the podcast. “And a lot of that has to do with Him and the grace that He has for me.” Well, for her, all this isn’t new because she really took ownership of her relationship with the Almighty back during her college days at Northwestern. And since then, her bond has only grown.
