When the Chicago Sky signed Jessika Carter on a training camp contract, hope flickered again. Maybe her breakthrough moment had finally come around. Yet, fate seems to have a cruel sense of déjà vu. Her WNBA journey continues to be plagued by short-lived contracts and untimely exits. Now, as new updates come, everyone is wondering: what might this season have looked like for her?
Jessika Carter’s Contract
New York Liberty offered Jessika her first professional contract, signing her on a rookie-scale contract via the 2024 WNBA draft. She was only the ninth player in the program’s history to be given a chance in the pros. Notably, the program had been seeing a drought since Teaira McCowan and Anriel Howard in 2019.

“Our fan base and staff have known for years that is a pro,” said Sam Purcell. “The New York Liberty are not only getting a great player, but a phenomenal person and role model. From her dominance on the court to the way she attacks everyday, there is no doubt that her best basketball is ahead of her and we are excited to watch how she will continue to leave her mark in the league.”

The came 2025 and she received a 1 year, $66,079 contract with the Chicago Sky as a free agent, making them her third team in such a short span.
