Skylar Diggins, the WNBA superstar, has filed for divorce from her husband, Daniel Smith. The 6x NBA All-Star told the reporters during Seattle Storm’s Media Day that she had decided to drop Smith from her name and would be going back to using her maiden name. “Yes, it does say Skylar Diggins, and I would like to be addressed as that moving forward,” she said. The change was first noted publicly when the Seattle Storm released their training camp roster on April 25, 2025, listing her as Skylar Diggins.

The 5-foot-9 guard was drafted 3rd overall in the 2013 WNBA draft by the Tulsa Shock. Having spent the majority of her career therein, Diggins moved to the Phoenix Mercury in 2020 before eventually coming to the Seattle Storm in 2024. Skylar married Daniel shortly after joining the league. Let us take a look at how the two of them got together.

There is no prenuptial agreement signed by the couple, and, according to the document, no alimony is required. However, it has been agreed in their divorce settlement that Smith will pay child support by way of daycare expenses, educational expenses, and post-secondary school (college or vocational school) expenses.

Skylar plans on entering her 11th season in the WNBA (missed 2 due to maternity leave), as she gets to play with a different identity through a new journey in her life.
