“Say if you’re 30 years old and this is your first time really thinking hard about race: Have the dialogue,” she said in an interview with The Athletic. ““Ask someone who doesn’t look like you. Get the perspective of someone who doesn’t look like you and that you don’t normally talk to maybe.” 

The athletic legacy stretches further than her parents. Brianna’s uncle, Shannon Jones, played linebacker for the University of Southern California football team.
