A’ja Wilson may have dropped 38 points in Game 1, but the Fever were not going to let the reigning MVP have any loose buckets in the must-win Game 2 for them. After Stephanie White called out the Fever’s lack of intensity in Game 1, Caitlin Clark and Co. made sure the Aces got the full Gainbridge Fieldhouse experience as Indiana took a 48-43 lead at the end of the first half. Clark and Wilson got tangled up early in Game 2, and broadcasters immediately weighed in.

Clark made her intentions clear right out of the gate as she got involved in a feisty moment with A’ja Wilson, as shown in a clip uploaded by Sports on Prime. The sequence happened with around 1:44 left in the first quarter. Wilson was inside the Indiana paint, attempting a layup. As she was defended by Myisha Hines-Allen, Caitlin Clark came up to support her teammate and almost got into a scuffle with Wilson, as she grabbed the ball with both of her hands.

For a brief moment, Clark and Wilson are in a tussle as both players refuse to let go of the ball. A jump ball violation is called against Clark, who doesn’t care and goes on to pump the home crowd, the ball still clutched tightly in her hands.

This led to the broadcasters on the telecast dropping their insights on the change in the Fever’s play since Game 1 against the Aces.

“This is what we wanted to see defensively from the Indiana Fever in this game. Doubling A’ja Wilson, being tough, being physical. Caitlin Clark just comes in and puts the clamps on that one,” said the broadcaster.

The interaction between Wilson and Clark also led to Brian Haenchen of IndyStar Sports reacting to it on X.

“[A] Myisha Hines-Allen nudge followed by some chirping. Caitlin Clark just forced a jump ball with A’ja Wilson and ripped it away as the whistle blew. feisty Fever are feisty.”

Earlier in the quarter, the Fever were involved in yet another incident that showed they had no intention of letting up the pressure on the Aces, particularly A’ja Wilson.

This one happened with around 2:53 left on the clock, as seen in the clip uploaded by postherhoops. Myisha Hines-Allen is seen defending A’ja Wilson near the perimeter. Before Jackie Young, who has the ball, can find any of her teammates for a pass, A’ja Wilson is shoved aside by Hines-Allen.

Wilson, naturally, was not too pleased, and players from both sides gathered around. Caitlin Clark, meanwhile, appreciated the physicality from her teammate and can be seen clapping and hyping the crowd in the background.

This interaction once again drew a reaction from 8 News Now’s Darrell Harris on X.

“Getting testy and Indy is using the crowd to their advantage. Myisha Hines-Allen and A’ja Wilson had a brief exchange.”

The intensity seems to be working from Indiana’s perspective. They have restricted A’ja Wilson to just 10 points in the first half, compared to her 22 points in Game 1.

However, in maximizing the intensity, Caitlin Clark needs to be careful, as she has already accumulated four personal fouls by the end of the third quarter.

HC Stephanie White pointed out the difference in gameplay style after the humiliating Game 1 loss.

“I felt like we had urgency at moments, and you can’t have that,” White said after the game.

“Give Vegas credit. They’re defending champions for a reason. They understand the moment. They understand that playoffs require a different version, a different level of intensity and urgency, and they came with it. This is what they’re supposed to do. They’re supposed to win Game 1. Now, we have to be able to bounce back and go home and pick up a win.”

As things stand, the Fever could be well on their way to level the series and force a Game 3. They are leading 72-60 at the end of the third quarter.
