Angel Reese is the overachieving cousin your mother keeps giving an example of. While setting benchmarks in basketball, Reese has succeeded in carving a pretty successful fashion career as well. “Do u wanna be an ig model or WNBA player? Pick one at this point,” Reese was asked in her X comments. To which the Bayou Barbie had a straightforward answer. “Well, no, I’ll never pick because my dream job doesn’t pay me enough, while my side job pays me 7 figures,” Reese wrote. Now, Reese has taken an unprecedented leap in her fashion career that is supposed to be a ‘side job’

Reese will not be returning to Unrivaled to pursue opportunities beyond basketball. Last year, the 3v3 format significantly improved her on-court performance. However, this year, it appears that she is putting that on hold for the time being. Following this announcement, fans anticipated a major development related to her, but even the most devoted Reese fans were surprised by the news from Victoria’s Secret.

“Couldn’t think of anything more iconic. Or anyone more deserving!!! So proud.” Wrote a fan. There isn’t a WNBA athlete or any athlete, for that matter, who is as experienced in the fashion world as Reese. She has previously made appearances at the MET Gala and Louis Vuitton show before the 2024 Olympics. In January 2025, Reese landed on the Vogue cover as a part of a story on how the world of sports and fashion has collided in the past few years.

For Vogue, Reese appeared in a ruched red Versace dress, photographed by Norman Jean Roy. For Victoria’s Secret, Angel is literally representing her name with white wings. “Yessss, Angel gets her wings, 🪽🪽” exclaimed one. To you non-fashionistas, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show builds around themed segments where models are styled to match each segment’s creative story. Reese is an Angel with wings, changing the world for good.

Another fan pointed out the revolution Reese is bringing to the WNBA, “Congratulations, beautiful! I swear you’re changing the game for women athletes on and off the court.” Her appearance at one of the biggest fashion stages, representing the WNBA and women’s sports, will garner attention. It could even draw more eyes to their ongoing CBA battle and the WNBA as a whole. Reese has laid the path for others to follow in her footsteps. However, according to this fan, Reese shouldn’t have been the first to get this milestone.

“WNBA players should’ve BEEEN hit that VS run way. Years of missed opportunity, but this is definitely the perfect opportunity to make up for it,” A fan pointed out. For years, the WNBA athletes have been traveling abroad to supplement their WNBA income. Fashion could have become the offseason “bag” for some players. However, VS has evolved over the years, and getting an athlete has not always been on brand for them.  Fashion is definitely not for everyone. In any case, Reese is driving the change and potentially inspiring millions.
