During her latest appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, the Indiana Fever star casually revisited a project that has been quietly building behind the scenes for more than a year, a lifelong dream that is now becoming a reality.

Having joined hands with Nike back in 2022 as a signature athlete and dropping her first official apparel collection, Clark, in her conversation with the Kelce brothers, finally pulled the curtain back on her upcoming signature shoes, though, just slightly. And this time, the global giant in athletic footwear is preparing something entirely new, not just for her, but for the sport.
“There’s like a couple of Kobes that they have only the technology in the heel of your foot and not the forefoot of your foot. And I can like tell a huge difference when I play in those. It feels like I’m running on hardwood, so I really struggled to wear those, but for other people, they obviously love them. But for me, it’s like I need that technology everywhere. So that’s honestly been a huge part of the process, and the creation of the shoe… The technology that we’re going to put into it isn’t anything that they’ve ever put into a basketball shoe before, so I’m really excited about that,” she said.

Being picky herself about what she wears, Caitlin Clark knew that going into the shoe design process, whatever she decided would need to be unique. While Clark wouldn’t reveal exactly what this new technology is in her upcoming shoes, she did also speak about how invested she was in making them better.
“I mean, it’s probably been, been, like a year and a half now, of like, figuring out what exactly I want. And I think probably the most challenging part of it is, like, you want it to be unique, but at the same time, like, I have to be comfortable wearing it. So I think we kind of, like, you kind of take what you know, you’re comfortable in. Like, obviously, I play in a lot of Kobe’s, but I don’t, at the same time, I don’t want it to be a Kobe. I want to be something very unique to me and a little bit different.”

Fans can’t control their excitement about Caitlin Clark’s upcoming shoes
Just days after her commercial crossed 30 Million views, the moment Clark’s hint at what she and the shoe brand have been working on went viral on social media, fans didn’t need any more details to make up their minds. Their belief strengthened that Nike struck gold by signing Clark and that her signature shoes will be an instant hit the moment they hit shelves.
One fan confidently declared, “Signing Caitlin for what Nike did will go down as their best value signing in the 21st century.” Another added, “All I know is when CC official Nike signature shoes are released, they going to sell like hotcakes.”

While images of CC 1’s have yet to surface, her recent appearance on the podcast offered the clearest picture yet of what fans can expect. Clark also confirmed that she plans to wear her debut model on the court this coming WNBA season.

“It’s been in the works for quite some time… I’m wearing it on the court this coming season,” she said.

However, she even teased a Kansas City Chiefs colorway and hinted that more designs tied to her Iowa and Indiana roots could be on the way.

“But more so I think I’m more excited about making certain colorways, or collabing with certain brands, or whatever it is. I know I definitely got the Chiefs colorway on the way at some point or something … Maybe we’ll get Andy Reid to coach in them at some point … or we could turn them into a cleat,” Clark said.
So, the expectations only continued to grow, with one fan joking, “Her shoes going sell in less than 5 mins lol 😂.” And as anticipation keeps building, some fans are already done waiting altogether, summing up the mood perfectly with, “Just release those cookie monsters.”
Caitlin Clark, who has been with Nike for three years now, shared that the process to launch her signature shoe actually tipped off at the end of her senior year at Iowa. After her NIL deal with the brand expired that season, the former Hawkeyes guard explored offers from Adidas and Under Armour before committing to an eight-year, $28 million deal with Nike.

“I think it’s honestly been, like, probably one of the coolest things I’ve got to do since,” Clark added on New Heights.
“Honestly, the process started at the end of my senior year when I was at Iowa, because I was deciding what shoe company I was going to go with. And I talked to Nike, Adidas and Under Armour, and they all offered me a signature shoe. Obviously, some faster than others. And, you know, everybody knows Nike makes the best product. It just kind of takes a little bit longer. And so that’s and I, you know, I grew up wanting to be a Nike athlete. Every kid does Nike, Jordan, like, that’s, that’s the premier brand.
One fan simply added, “I will be buying.”

If the reaction to a single podcast tease is any indication, Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe is already positioned as one of the most talked-about releases in women’s basketball, long before fans even get a look at it.
