After Marina Mabrey erupted for 53 points against the Los Angeles Sparks last month, she tied the record for most points scored in a single WNBA game. So if someone were to break that mark, who would it be? That’s exactly the question WNBA stars were asked during the All-Star Orange Carpet event. Everyone from Paige Bueckers, Marina Mabrey, Rhyne Howard, Bridget Carleton, to Gabriela Jaquez omitted Caitlin Clark, and not everyone in the fandom agreed.

In a clip shared by Just Women’s Sports, almost everyone who answered picked A’ja Wilson. While some, including Mabrey, bet on herself, and some even named Paige, who has scored a single-game high of 44 points in 2025, the majority picked the reigning WNBA MVP and none named Clark.
“Bookmarking this for when the 11th best guard does it,” one fan wrote. While another added, “Can’t wait until CC breaks the record—it’s funny that these women can’t even say her name lol.”
After everything that has happened around Caitlin Clark this season, there has been an ongoing narrative among some fans that the league and even its players have something against the Indiana Fever star. But much of that remained speculation until the All-Star voting results were released.
While fans and the media voted Clark into the top three overall, her fellow players ranked her as just the 11th-best guard. So when none of the players mentioned her name in a clip posted by Just Women’s Sports, it was always going to raise eyebrows.
“D***. They’re all in on it. Obvious,” one added. While another fan wrote, “Caitlin literally just had 45 in 29 mins btw while it took both Mabrey and Aja 33 mins to get 53.”
In the ongoing season, A’ja Wilson currently sits at the top of the ‘Points Per Game’ standings. She is averaging 25.5 points per game and has led the Aces to 18 wins so far, but Clark isn’t far behind.
The Fever guard ranks fifth at 20.7 points per game despite missing time and playing through a back injury that interrupted her season. On July 17, she exploded for 45 points and 10 assists against the Seattle Storm to become the first player in WNBA history to record at least 40 points and 10 assists in a game.
“This is prob why CC isn’t hanging out with any of them. Their dislike for her is obvious. It’s messed up fr,” another fan added.
Whether Caitlin Clark eventually breaks the record or not is something only time will tell. But one thing is certain: whenever she is left out of conversations involving the league’s biggest milestones, fans are rarely willing to let it slide.
