Sophie Cunningham’s debut podcast was one for the ages. From discussing on-court fights to spilling secrets about Caitlin Clark and her impact on the WNBA, the debut episode had it all. While most of the episode was all fun and light-hearted, there was also a shocking revelation coming from Sophie Cunningham. While discussing Caitlin Clark and how rivals approached facing her, Sophie told the whole story from her own experience.
“We’re gonna show her what the W is.” That was the mentality of the Phoenix Mercury locker room when they were facing the Indiana Fever. Sophie Cunningham also said that teams came into the game with a clear plan of toughening up on Caitlin Clark. Now, as her teammate, Sophie Cunningham has witnessed firsthand how much physicality Caitlin has to face every time she steps onto the basketball court. She even addressed the infamous Connecticut Sun game and the factors that led to the hard foul against Jacy Sheldon, which eventually resulted in an ejection and a $900 fine from the league.
As soon as her comments came out, there were bound to be some strong reactions. At the same time, the fans loved the transparency and felt justified in their beliefs that CC was being targeted. There was a cloud of doubt as to how the WNBA insiders might react (not that Sophie Cunningham cares). However, the BETMGM’ The Daily Tip hosts agreed with Sophie Cunningham’s comments about Caitlin Clark. Piggybacking on Sophie Cunningham’s remarks, Michael Jenkins and Kate Constable demanded that Caitlin Clark get her due for all she’s done for the league.

While agreeing with Sophie Cunningham’s comments, Michael Jenkins said, “ Ultimately, when you see all that vitriol, people who cannot stand her it’s like okay, what has she done wrong? She’s a great basketball player. So, you might not think it’s fair that she’s the face of the league. And that’s understandable because there have been fantastic players in the WNBA for a long time, but Caitlin didn’t disparage them; she just came in and changed the game with her own style.”
