With Spanish international Awa Fam’s performance so far this season, it is safe to say she has now settled comfortably into the WNBA. The Seattle Storm rookie has now played 13 regular-season games this season, and her most recent outing against the Atlanta Dream appears to be her best one yet. The WNBA itself was impressed, especially with the display she showed against Angel Reese.

Specifically, the WNBA took special liking to a sequence of play that took place in the second quarter of the game, a clip of which they shared on their X page. That play saw Awa Fam receive a pass and knock down a three-pointer. And then, in the Atlanta Dream’s play that followed that moment, she also made a crucial block, swatting the ball away from Angel Reese, who was trying to score.

“Active on BOTH ends of the floor,” the WNBA wrote to caption the video clip. “Awa Fam gets her fourth 3 PM AND gets the block to go!”

This Atlanta Dream game was by far her best so far this season. She ended the game with 21 points, which was the highest she has had this season.

That was alongside one assist, one rebound, and one impressive block against Angel Reese. Beyond the points, Awa Fam was also quite efficient in her shooting in this game. She got her 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, and that included 5-of-6 from the three-point range.

So far this season, she averages 11.2 points per game. She is also on a 5.5 average in rebounds and 1.8 in assists per game.

Overall, Awa Fam’s performance on this night was her best display yet. And it came at a crucial time against a seemingly strong Atlanta Dream team to help Seattle to a 105-90 scoreline. It was a much-needed win.

Hopefully, they will continue to build on the winning momentum that started in the game prior.

Atlanta Dream HC Karl Smesko gives Seattle Storm their flowers after Saturday’s loss

Heading into this game, the Seattle Storm had only managed four wins all season after playing 14 games. They were, in fact, on a franchise-record 11-game losing streak before their New York Liberty game, which they played before this Atlanta Dream game. And they have now managed to put up another strong performance to sustain the winning energy.

Speaking in the postgame press conference, Atlanta Dream HC Karl Smesko did well to acknowledge the performance that Seattle put up. He specifically praised their shooting and how strong they were from the opening tip.

“I thought Seattle was outstanding,” he said. “They were great from the opening tip; they just shot the ball in incredibly well today. I give them all the credit. Everybody on their team just played exceptionally well on the same night.”

And quite like Smesko said, the Seattle Storm players, especially Awa Fam, were very impressive in their shooting in this game. They finished with a 60% field goal percentage and a blistering 61% from three-point range. Notably, Awa Fam shot an incredible 88.9% from the field and a blistering 83.3% from three-point range.

And exactly like Smesko said, they were in it the whole game, only losing the second quarter, which they did by just one point.

They will hope to replicate this performance again when they face the Phoenix Mercury. Hopefully, they might string together at least half as long a winning streak as the losing streak they already had.
