When greatness is rewarded, it’s never just one person celebrating. From start to finish, Chelsea Gray dominated in the Unrivaled 2026 season. However, inside the TNT studio, it was Candace Parker who had to take off her analyst hat and fight back tears.

After winning a championship and Finals MVP award with Rose BC back in 2025, Chelsea Gray added another honor Monday, earning league MVP as voted by coaches, media, fans, players, and broadcasters. While the nod was deserved, the MVP race proved especially competitive this year, with Paige Bueckers and Kelsey Plum emerging as Gray’s biggest challengers, while Aliyah Boston and Breanna Stewart remained firmly in the conversation as well.

No doubt, it was a big moment. And if anyone was prouder of her than herself, it was Parker.

“I have to take my analyst cap off and put my vet cap on, my best friend cap on,” Parker said. “I’m just proud of her, and I’m going to get emotional, but when good things happen to great people, like the years that she’s had, I’ve seen her at her lowest. And so to see the last four years, excuse me, got a thug crying.”

“She’s your favorite teammate’s favorite teammate. And to be as great as she is and to still carry herself in the way she does,” she further added.

Unrivaled may only be two seasons old, but Chelsea Gray is already carving out a legacy in the 3-on-3 league.

The 33-year-old guard averaged 24.2 points per game (second-best in the league) while leading all players with 6.1 assists per contest. As if that wasn’t enough, she also went on to post career highs in rebounds (5.6 per game) and finished first in total points (339), total assists (89), made three-pointers (49), and assists per game. On February 22, she tied the league’s single-game three-point record with 10 makes.

However, her impact extended well beyond the regular season. In the league’s 1-on-1 tournament, Gray defeated Allisha Gray in the championship series to claim the $200,000 prize.

Day after day, Gray made it clear that she had entered this season with something to prove. And she proved it decisively.

The MVP is now the latest addition to her already stacked résumé, which includes:

  • A four-time WNBA champion with the Las Vegas Aces
  • Former Finals MVP
  • Six-time All-Star
  • Four-time All-WNBA selection
  • Two-time Olympic gold medalist
  • World Cup champion

But as Parker’s emotional reaction showed, this season meant something deeper. For those who’ve watched her journey through the injuries, the doubts, and the quiet perseverance, this wasn’t just another trophy. It was validation. Not just of talent, but of her character.

She reminded everyone that greatness isn’t always loud, but it is undeniable.

What’s Next in Unrivaled?

While Chelsea Gray capped an unforgettable season with this achievement, her team, Rose BC, run ended in the semifinals.

They fell 73-69 to Mist BC after Arike Ogunbowale’s late 3-pointer and Breanna Stewart’s 23-point performance powered Mist’s comeback. So even league-best individual performances can’t always carry a team past the playoffs.

Still, Gray has been nothing but grateful for this season. She took to her Instagram Stories to share a post from Unrivaled’s official account about her MVP announcement, and wrote, “Blessed.”

But the spotlight now shifts to Wednesday. The championship day in Miami where Mist BC will lock horns with the Phantom BC.

To reach the finals, Phantom Edge pushed past Vinyl BC with 83-75, thanks to Kelsey Plum’s step-back game-winner (her sixth clutch shot of the season).

With both teams having star-studded lineups and showcasing resilience, the final promises high-stakes action, where the winner will take the $600,000 prize and Unrivaled supremacy at home.
